We all know that we wouldn't still be in Iraq if the soldiers fighting were drafted. A draft would make everyone realize the true costs of war, and provide enough manpower to fight the wars we need to. Many other nations from Israel to Switzerland have similar programs.

I am so embarrassed for our Country, as a supposed Christian nation, treating those prisoners no different than what they were already accustomed to in their own country. It makes us look no different than any other warmongers. I am ashamed. Please help me to understand so I can put this saddness to rest. Thank you. Mmm

Or how about a movie director?

Do these mediums do the act of war justice?

I'm reading a book right now called "Beasts of No Nation" that deals with a child being forced into fighting in a civil war .

Do you think that a non-soldier can write a book about what goes through a little boy's mind if he is forced to fight in a war, especially if this author has never experienced war himself?

I've been thinking about joining the marines as an officer. I did some research and came across a program called PLC. The program allows college students to attended a 10 week boot camp, according to several websites, signing up for PLC does not obligate a person to the military. Has anyone done PLC, and decided to not except a commission? What is PLC like? Can I really sign up for PLC without committing to the marines?

...There were a few tense moments, however, including an encounter involving Joshua Sparling, 25, who was on crutches and who said he was a corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division and lost his right leg below the knee in Ramadi, Iraq. Mr. Sparling spoke at a smaller rally held earlier in the day at the United States Navy Memorial, and voiced his support for the administration’s policies in Iraq.

Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling; he spit back.

Capitol police made the antiwar protestors walk farther away from the counterprotesters.

“These are not Americans as far as I’m concerned,” Mr. Sparling said.

Please consider that electricity-discovered by Ben Franklin, The Lightbulb-phonograph-(Recording technology) and more by Thomas Edison, telegraph (telephone technology) by A G Bell, Airplanes by Wright Brothers, and numerous other inventions that have brought this country to be A GREAT NATION, have been sold and then used by Nations to try to destroy US Presently we have our service men and women dying in Iraq with the threat of Iran closing in on us for Nuclear Technology. As I look at all the hope for good and the world that have come about by our wanting and willingness to share I wonder if we have basically cut our own throats. 9/11 our Aircraft were used against us-isn't it time to ask these other countries to consider the results of sAtAn America in making their country a better place to live. I have not been to the middle ease, I have to wonder if Ben Franklin is given credit for discovering electricity ect, in these countries? Who do they think invented all of these ideas?

I am 55 years old. My husband and I do not live together but we never divorced. He is 51. He lives in California and I live in Florida. We have lived apart for about 10 years. He told me that the doctor gave him about 1 year to live. He had 2 heart attacks last year. Can I get social security benefits after his death? How old do I have to be to apply for theese benefits? He is now receiving disability because he can no longer work. He is living with another woman but we still communicate. Our 2 children are grown and over 21 years of age. He served in the U.S.Marine Corps. for 3 years. We were married and living together at that time. He was released from active duty in August of 1980. Can I get any type of medical assistance from the Veterans Administration? They have helped him after he was out of the Marine Corps. If I am eligible for medical benefits where do I apply?
Any help will be appreciated.

The United States Government has annouced that it will follow through with plans that were announced in 2006. The army will be testing a potential bunker buster, named "Divine Strake." It is a 700 ton amonium nitrate bomb. Let's compare that to the bomb that took down the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. That one was only 2.5 tons. Now, guess where they will test it? Yes, at the Nevada Test Site! This bomb, although not itself nuclear, will be exploded only a mile from where the nuclear bombs were detonated. The Jet Stream is sure to carry all that radioactive dust right over America's retirees, right over the world's tourists, right over patriotic Mormons, right up to Juan Diego (the largest Catholic High School Campus in the United States in Salt Lake City), up and over the Colorado River and on to the rest of the USA and over the Atlantic to the rest of the world. I feel that the few people who know abt. this can't fight it alone. Spread the word! Protest!

Military Times publishes 4 newpapers geared towards current and former US military personnel: Air Force Times, Army Times, Navy Times, & Marine Corps Times. This is not the "liberal media". These papers are sold on military bases and read regularly by active-duty military. They are highly respected, and most of the editors and writing staff are retired military.

Military Times recently polled active-duty military members on their attitudes about the war in Iraq. These are some results:

"For the first time, more troops disapprove of the president’s handling of the war than approve of it. Barely 1/3 of service members approve of the way the president is handling the war."

"...in this year’s poll only 41 percent of the military said the U.S. should have gone to war in Iraq in the first place, down from 65 percent in 2003."

To read the Air Force Times article on the full results of the poll, use this link:
