Nate L, ya gotta read between the lines, if he says if you dont make an effort to be smart, that means hes saying theyre not smart, or unintelligent.

No, I wouldn't say Jarheads are dumb at all.

The 3 Jarheads / ex Jarheads I knew best are:
- Corporate Executive with Fortune 500 company
- Executive Chef
- Nuclear Physicist (w/ PhD)

Not what I'd consider "low achievers", eh?

He never said marines were dumb. There is a difference between having an education and being intelligent. No one with any common sense would dispute the fact that if you have an education your job prospects are better. One of the best prospects for people without an education is the military and some join because they feel they have no other choice. That's what Kerry said but it was twisted by the right to make it sound like Kerry called the troops idiots.

Kerry never said that the Marines were dumb! You are mistaking what he said or are deliberately misquoting him. Kerry is a veteran & I doubt that he would inply that service people are stupid without including himself! That, I'm sure, he would not do.
What I think about him is that he is fine. He was uncomfortable running for President & came acrossed to the public as being distant & rather cold. Perhaps if the ticket had been turned around the democrats would have won. John Kerry certainly seemed sure of himself & at ease with everyone. Winning personality with smarts to boot!

I am a military mom and i get so pissed-off when people put down our soldiers because they did not ask for this war ,but they are willing to go out there and put their lives on the line for us and if you are a real american you should be thanking them because they do come on this web-site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He, like most politicains, thinks he is smarter than everyone else. He sure said Marines were dumb

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." John Kerry

I bet he recived laughs when he said it, but the Marines are probably smarter than average people. They don't vote democrat.

How low-life of a Purple Heart cheat and an admitted War Criminal to even soil the name and honor of his betters! Kerry is a traitorous elitist socialist that despises the average, honest American...Who's boots he couldn't lick were he standing on a ladder, perched upon the worlds tallest peak!
Fitting his state surrounds him with a murderer and a pedophile homo-sexual male!

Military people aren't really dumb and the military isn't the "employer of last resort." One of my cousins is in the military and he's pretty smart. And you hear stories about people who were in the military for a while and then went on to have successful civilian careers.

I would listen to Kerry who was actually a boat commander in Vietnam before I'd listen to a guy who never showed up for national guard. If GWB did that today he'd be called a traitor to his country.

Not any more. He was remembering back to the days when he was in the service, in the draft they took the flunkies first.

They then gave them the MOS of bullet sponge.
