What's the purpose of such a question? It doesn't matter one bit if we are for or against the war in Iraq; we are professional military personnel who are paid a salary to fight. We aren't in the military for any other purpose. Contrary to what anyone, serving or not, may try to tell you, the bottom line is that we have volunteered our lives to our country, we signed a contract to obey orders, and we do not practice democracy in the military. This may be a very stark and spartan answer for you, but it is the truth.

After serving a deployment, I would have to say the majority of the troops are for it. There are always those who "joined for college, I never thought I would actually have to do my job", but they are few and quiet. Trouble is the t.v. coverage. We are forced to fight a war with politically correct rules which is ludicrous. Most troops come home and are confused and dismayed by the biased coverage of what is going on. Very little positive stories are ever reported, and believe me they are out there. Hopefully, they let the troops go full throttle and get the job done.

During my tour in Iraq the vast majority of my fellow soldiers believed in what we were doing.

My contacts in the military tell me that this is still true.

However - morale is starting to sag because more and more the troops are starting to feel that they will not be allowed to win.

I'm against the way it is being waged...I think we should be pulling out a majority of our (Coalition) forces, and start truly handing their country back over to them.

I would like to add that I joined the military in favor of what we were doing in Iraq, deployed, and just recently got back (December of '06).

And, on top of that, the 'they're volunteers, who ******* cares' line is a cop out, and anyone who uses it should be ashamed and not dare call themselves Americans...Yes, we volunteered, but we're still Americans, and we still have the right to criticize and disagree with our government.

Edit: FOB Iskandariyah

Maybe the soldiers should say the base they were stationed. I was in Taji and Al Asad. I am for the war. I would rather fight Al Qaeda there than here.
