We didn' t hire US troops in WW2, America declared war on Germany. The big bill we have just finished paying for , was for Military Aid (Aircraft, tanks, Vehicles etc.)When the British Expeditionary Force were evacuated for Dunkirk, we left behind all the euipment they took with them . Miles of vehicles and artillery After which Britain was desperately short of eqipment to rearm any Army we had, so the Americans sent it to us on a Lend lease scheme. It was have now pay later scheme, and we have just finished paying. Tha is why I always say, we do owe a lot to the Americans. Otherwise, we would all be little Nazis now.

Britain did not hire U.S troops for WW2 ... the USA eventually decided to join in only after Britain had managed to hold off the German war machine for a couple of years, despite being an ally apparently. Britain probably owes more to the countries that now make up the Commonwealth (India, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and many others)

Having said all that, given how long it took for the US to get involved, it would make sense that if they were hiring out their troops to fight they would also be late sending the invoice.

Not one penny-- Japan attacked the U.S. on 12/71941, Germany, being an ally of Japan ,declared war 3 days later, followed by Italy(also part of the AXIS alliance). Great Britain was not charged for the AXIS powers acts of war. (But G.B. still owes the U.S. millions of dollars from the Lend/Lease program the U.S. gave It before and during WW 2--- Great Britain owes the U.S.)Not to forget about loans made after the war to help rebuild G.B. from it's own reconstruction from air attacks and what have you, during the war. AND" NO" the war debt has not been payed as of 1/30/2007. Look it up if you do not believe!

This was the money/material LOANED to Britain as part of Lend-Lease. This economic and military support kept Britain viable as a nation until some time after WW2.

GB owes nothing to the US. That War cost Britain it,s life blood
Not to mention the 450K lost lives...Far greater than the US..with it,s poulation...almost 4x as many lost as the US..Plus the US came out of the war twice as rich as it went in..Of 800 Uboats destroyed in WW11..The Brits sunk 600 plus. The most costly land battle against the Japs was in Burma 70K Brits lost. There is more American merchant marines went on Strike on D Day..The British MN...did most of That work. The Brit MN also lost more than 2600 ships in WW11..Shove that in your pipe and smoke it.It has been said that DDay would have been a failure had it been left to the US forces. There were far more Brits and Canadians on the beaches Dday than there were American.
Another note: Where did the Germans counter attack? The battle of the Bulge !! The weakest point !!.Americans were rescued by Montgomery...It,s all there in libraries.

It was more like the money the US lent us to keep our heads above water, both during and after the war.

We've paid the bill, yes, but we'll have to keep go along with them on all mad military actions until 2059

For all the respect in the world for what they did in WW II, i do not believe that, there's any deal. US and UK are always on the same boat and assisting each other to invade, to steal oil, changing government, cudetas and........ all these, under the name of freedom! and democracy! and funny of all, being the leader of a free world!!! my foot !!!
