Because most Irish Americans thought that finally UK was getting its just desserts but when terrorism happened in their own backyard for the same reason(supporting Israel aquire Palestinians land) well it all changed and there is no difference between Al-Queda and IRA they both killed innocent people for their cause. After 9/11 UK did not hesitate to help their allies and if they hadn't maybe London wouldn't of been bombed but they stood up for what was right unlike many Americans that still try to justify IRA killing and secretly support them.

HMMMMMMMMM! I think many Americans believe it's Vital so that we can remain safe in our Homeland. Sure we have homegrown dangers, but nothing other than Timothy McVeigh could compare to the terror the Radical Islamics delivered to our shores. Notice I say Radical Islamics, not all Islamics subscribe to this wild idea of killing in the name of Allah. We by no means condoned the actions of the I.R.A. and past administrations did what they could to help broker a peace agreement between Great Briton and the I.R.A.. So we did'nt just sit back during the I.R.A. terror campaign and by no way supported their cause, it's just that it was a delicate issue that had to be dealt with diplomtically to maintain healthy relations with our allies across the Big Lake.

Why is it, when some try to defend them selves and their believes, they called terrorism? I believe so many Americans are effected by Rambo's movies ! they all want to win the war and fight the so called terrorism!!!!, which is good enough in a fair world. But had it ever occurred to you people and your twisted little minds, the reason terrorism started, is, either they home/ land been invaded/ stolen or some irrational powers been imposed on them. Now we know the real reasons behind all this, FREE OIL, FREE LAND, STRONGER POST IN REGION that gives better support to Israel and to better protect US interests and tons of reasons like that. So, if some of you want to argue this or denying this, you're more screwed up than i thought. Just be a man, dig the truth and drop that cow boy crap !

ADD. man, some of these responses are unbelievably stupid, about Islam and "Quaran". EDUCATE YOUR SELF THEN ARGUE, STOP THIS NONE SENSE!!!

There is a big difference in the IRA fight and the fight against terrorism. The fight of IRA is a fight for ones attonomy and not a fight of world Islamic Domination. It was a crazy radical Islamic that attacked the USA on 9/11. Islamic Faith itself crys out for the killing and death of all who are not Islamic and now the Islamics are spreading all over the world and setting up theirselves to do as the Qur'an instructs them to do. That is to spread out all over the world and kill all those that do not convert to Islam. See the verse below.

Qur'ān Surah Al-Anfãl 8:39
So fight them (unbelievers) until there is no more fitnah (disbelief or worship of any god but Allah) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world) ... And fight with them until there is no more fitnah and religion should be ONLY for Allah.

Islam avers that Allah "does not beget nor was he begotten" and so Christians by worshipping Jesus are commtting blasphemy because worship should be "only for Allah".

Sure this is just one verse out of the Qur'an but it is the driving verse that allows the Islamics Jihad to cry for the death of not only Americans but also Britians. This is proven as the Mosoc of Britian are preaching death to all infidels. Each and every holy worship day and hour.

The resolve for success is apparent to understand, if you only understand that Islamic Parents and Leaders send their young to be human bombs in the name of Allah. The hatred of non Muslims is so great that Muslims will sacrifice their family members to make sure this verse of "worship Allah only , is fullfilled. This is why Some Americans believe it is vital to fight terrorism.

Actions speak louder than words. If you understand the extermination of christian in Sudan, and other countries in Africa are all Islamic drive, the Killing of Chistians in Indonesia, the bombing in Isreal, Lebanon, and other places are all instagated by Islamic Muslims. So sit back and try to negociate with a person that wants to kill you just because you are not Islamic. See how far you will get. Islamic minds are made up. Convert or Die.

Some? Why shouldn't we want to fight terrorism? So because America did nothing about the IRA, you think we should all die? Is that it? I thought the UK was able to fight off the IRA on its own?

We advised and supported the United Kingdom. If the United States got involved with the Irish Republican Army, it may have widened the conflict.

I would have to disagree with Beez, it is vital to fight terrorism, if we do nothing then what does that say for our country? Terrorism needs to stop, we are the country of the free and yes the US does fight wars that are really not ours but this time It is our war to fight, they attacked our twin towers and destroyed lives and they will pay for what they have done.

9/11... need I say more? Regardless of what you believe, it's most, not some Americans. Whether or not we feel the war in Iraq is being handled properly, we certainly do not want a repeat of 9/11 on our soil.

Americans were lead to believe Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the attacks on the twin towers. Then they were told Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction and we must invade. Now we're lead to believe we're in a fight against terrorists. And trouble with Iran is around the corner. Every war is a failure to negotiate.
