A 10-year-old Florida girl faces felony weapons charges after bringing a small steak knife to school to cut up her lunch, according to a report on WFTV.com.
School officials say the Ocala 5th grader had brought a piece of steak for her lunch, and had brought a steak knife. According to the report, a couple of teachers took the utensil and called authorities, who arrested the girl and took her to the county’s juvenile assessment center.
"She did not use it inappropriately. She did not threaten anyone with it. She didn't pull it out and brandish it. Nothing of that nature," explained Marion County School Spokesman Kevin Christian, who added that it made no difference what the knife was being used for, they had no choice but to call police.
"Anytime there's a weapon on campus, yes, we have to report it and we aggressively report it because we don't want to take any chances, regardless," Christian said.
The girl now faces a felony charge for possessing a weapon on school property.

If two misdemeanors of shoplifting occurr within one year, and the first offense is dismissed by the Court with community service, but then then the second offense occurrs (another misdemeanor), can it turn into a felony punishment? There was never an arrest for both offenses. Could it turn into jail time, a heavy fine, and/or probation? This is state of Washington. Defendant has been diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder.

The police in LosAngeles County were chasing some idiot all over the county. He eventually slid into a mountain side in Azusa Canyon and rolled his car. The best part was when he got out and tried to run but apparently was too injuried and collapsed to the ground!

It seemed to me that the police let these chases go on way to long. I know they were using caution because he was reported to possibly have a shotgun but come on. Racing up and down busy LA streets seams to me to be incredibly dangerous to the public. And then they chased him up a two lane mountain road where he was going around corners and could have taken someone out head on.

Does anyone else agree these go on too long? What would be a good solution to end them quicker? I'm all for just shooting the driver (I KNOW this will offend someone... everyone has civil rights...); my wife suggests a forgetting the spike strips... how about a wall of flame. He can stop or drive through it. If he stops chase over, if no

A 10-year-old Ocala, Florida girl brought a small steak in her lunch to school and a small kitchen knife to cut it. She now faces a felony charge after being arrested.

I think Florida needs to focus on the real threats to American children.

This is for a newspaper article so I will need some back up data. Other questions -- What percentage of women in the police force are single mothers? What percentage of the police force are women? Of the women, what percentage generally advances to higher positions other than entry level or patrol... like sergeant, lt. etc? Any info pertaining to this question will be useful.

I am having trouble recalling this particular word.

The definition is something like: "to have a large degree of autonomy in deciding".
For example, a police officer is given great xxxx in deciding if a citizen should be taken to jail, based on the officer's judgment of the situation.

What word am I describing?

Oh, and the word is NOT "jurisdiction", nor "jurisprudence".

Thank you very much.

Let's assume a couple of things. One, no other traffic in the area. Two, your at a T intersection. If two cars in the same lane traveling in the same direction come to a stop sign at the same time. The first car drives past the stop line and then stops before entering the intersection. Car two arrives at the same time and stops at the stop line.....So, they both stop at the same time but car 1 stops past the stop sign and car 2 stops at the stop sign.

Can car 2 go at the same time as car 1 (legally) since car 1 actually ran the stop sign and car 2 stopped at the stop sign.

He has told police he has sexual urges toward children aged baby to 8, he finds the urges very difficult to contol, he jacks off to mother and baby magazine. He is worried he will 'overstep' and actually act out a fantasy on a child.

He has asked the police to lock him behind bars to keep hime out of childrens way, but they can't because he has not committed a crime yet. He has asked to be locked in a mental institution, but they have decided that he doesn't have a condition that they can use to legally detain him. He could just walk out of the institution and nobody would have the authority to stop him.

So, he lives in a flat somewhere in as street, probably with families next door.

I have a loaded 9mm in a case next to my bed, easily accessible in an emergency. If someone comes into my home while my wife and I are sleeping I've practiced what to do, but one thing I'm not sure of is where I should aim. I've heard horror stories of people just wounding an intruder (ex. messed up a leg, paralyzed, etc.) and the criminal came back a couple years later and sued the shooter for all they were worth because they would be disabled the rest of their life. Due to this fact I've heard people say, "always shoot to kill." I just wanted to get more opinions on this before it happens to me, God forbid.

I have been avoiding the DA, I do not want to go to court!! She called today (on my machine) and said I would be supenod to trial as victim and witness for my X boyfriends Domestic violence towards me. I put all this abuse behind me and don't want to re live it. I have been hurt enough, now fear his HIGH power attorneys are going to twist and turn the truth to make me feel even more insecure than I already do! What kind of questions do they ask me? Do they ask personal, non related questions? Will his attorney find skeletons in my closet? or make them up?
