Most departments have dropped height standards long ago, to accommodate women. As far as doing the job, you will catch it from people on the street. I am 5'8" and I get "messed" with from time to time. In the academy you may get tormented by your DIs, cause that's just what they do they want to break you down to weed out the weak. The PT won't be a prob, because again most academies have lowered the standards to accommodate women, usually in ways that have to do with height. So, in short, no it won't be a problem as long as you're secure with it because all of the problems will be psychological ones.

There are civilians who work with the police with your specialities. Your skills might be better used as a civilian working with the police, not as a police officer. Explore those options as well. But decide what you want to do and go for it.
If you're worried about surviving the academy, start running. Get yourself into shape. They will take care of the rest.

No, height is not an automatic disqualifier.
Decades ago, it would have been.
As long as you can pass the physical agility tests, you will not have a problem. You are majoring in a great field.
Would you be at a disadvantage? I have seen some very stout officers with short statures. You will be what you make of yourself.
Good luck.

As long as that 5'4" is height and not circumference, you should be fine. Get a copy of the physical fitness standards and tests and make sure you can do and pass the tests.

My boyfriend is a cop in Brooklyn and he knows a lot of other cops, many of whom are women and quite a few of whom are SMALL. Little Italian girls, but they're feisty and spirited and love their job. That's what matters.
As long as you pass the exams and you're confident, your size won't matter.

Just put the same effort into your physical fitness and training that you did into your education and you'll be OK.
Being aware and prepared is more important than being big.

No. I don't see a problem at all. They shouldn't stop you from being what you want to be. It is just not right. BUT. On the other hand, well, you are pretty short, and therefore, not alot of people will take you seriously.

I don't think that there's a problem with being 5' 4'' and being a police officer. I think it'd be cool to see a dwarf/midget police officer!
