Anything on how to use one, how to check the chamber, load, unload, shoot, different type of hand guns, etc. I'm a newbie just trying to learn a few general things about handling a gun.

Yes, as stated above - take a class. Also, there will always be questions that come up. A good site to visit is handgunforum.net - lots of newbies there,a nd you can ask any question youw ant, and someone will help you. I use to admin there before I took over a different firearms website.

I was taught at a very young age, had military experience that reinforced my training, and recently took a handgun course that taught me very little because of my prior training.

I recommend finding a good class or two. Then practice.

Don't be fooled; formal training does not give you Jedi-like-mastery over any firearm and is not necessary. That being said, everyone learns somewhere, not likely from a website or book.

Here is a good website about the basics of handling and shooting a pistol.

However, seeing how a pistol is a lethal weapon, some live hands on training at a firing range is a must.

No book will ever teach you what a hands on course will do for you.

Most local gun shops offer, or have a list of gun handling classes. I'm begging you take one. A nice shooting course would be sweet as well.

I believe strongly in one's right to own firearms, but I want them to do it safely.

Eric nailed it......i'd give him five thumbs up if i could.....hands on with someone trained to train you is a much better option than a website
