Here's some background info: I will be getting my conceal / carry permit soon and want to get a hand gun to occasionally carry. I'm not concerned about having the nicest, biggest, best gun, just something that works and is cheap. Only real answers please - I'm not debating the need or rights for hand guns or to carry them, just looking for some suggestions on inexpensive hand guns. Thanks

I'm sending a package to an american friend. the package contains a few explicit items(nothing illegal) but they will be packed as a private package. My question is what Items are likely to get searched or withheld if the package is scanned.
what categories of items are withheld for search during entry in the us. Any help would be much appreciated specially from any US customs people. I'd like to be sure before I send out my package

i have just read on yahoo news of this taxi driver getting fined £60 and 3 points on his license (nothing odd about this i hear you say)BUT the recorded speed was 420mph in a 30 zone.........he has contested it but they are still giving him the points even though there is no proof he was speeding in the first place......what would your reactions be if this happened to you?

The alleged speeding offence occurred on 4th November 2006 but I did not receive notification of prosecution until 20th December 2006, some 45 days later. I understood that the initial notification had to be received within 14 days of the offence. If this is correct - can I argue the case to avoid further points on my licence and fine. Also if I am not offered Speed Awareness Course and as i was only doing 36 in a 30 zone, they often do offer these in Lancashire - can I ask for one instead of the points etc.

I think it is very relevant in a case of - say burglary ,that the judge and jury are told of previous convictions. All too often we find that after a burglar has been found guilty and sentenced to a trivial say week's community service it transpires he has a record of 30 previous convictions. It is blatantly obvious that he has n't learnt his lesson and won't while he is only given a 'slap on the wrist' sentence.Had the judge/jury known about the previous convictions there might by a chance he would be given a sentence that would fit what he is...a serial burglar.Victims of burglary do not think it is a trivial matter...burglars should be put behind bars for a long time to keep them off our streets. It is obvious they have no remorse or they would not keep on doing it.One conviction could be overlooked (we all make mistakes) but 10-30 NO.

I have wanted to join the police in the uk for some time now. I have everything required to join, however my vision is not perfect. I wear contact lenses pritty much all the time. I was getting an eye test done the other day and the woman checked me in accordance with police regulations and said I would be unable to join. My vision is pritty cruddy really without lenses. I understand why they police do this, but its a bit annoying and a tad discriminatory. Is there any way around this, other than laser eye surgery??

between a prostitute and a porn star.

Each has "relations" for money. Yet on COPS, the prostitutes get arrested regularly while the "movie stars" do not.

Does that mean if a man wants to hire a "lady of the night" he should carry a video camera with him?

Does the adult film star have some sort of licence making her job legal?

A few days after I received a citation for speeding last month, the citing officer's corporal came by where I work and offered legal advice (such as ways to get out of the ticket, and what to say to the district attorney). I always thought this was against the law, but I can't find any specific details on the internet about it. I already reported both officers to their superiors for their misconduct, but it looks like they're not going to do anything about it. Do I have any legal precedent to have the case against me dismissed on the grounds that a sworn officer of the law attempted to give me legal advice?

There was a tragic accident on the 101 in Santa Barbara involving a flatbed truck carrying 2 bundles of rebarb in which my 23 year old niece was killed. It happened before 6:00 a.m. so it was still dark. There were no witnesses so we'll never really know what happened but I'd like to find out the laws on how far the rebarb can be hanging over and the lighting needed when its dark. thank you.

I used to have TSPV status, but I'm wondering if a CRB check would flag up only convictions not arrests (and binding overs)?

I was on Bastanchury road (after making a right turn at St. College road) when going home from Brea mall, and there was a speed meter that shows how fast you're going. I saw it many times before, but thought it was there so police officers can catch people speeding from far away. The speed limit is 50 I belive over there and the meter read 57 (it was a hill going down and I wasn't even accelerating and although I could've braked, I didn't) when I went past it and I THINK I saw a FLASH. There is a speed meter at another street and cars always go over the speed limit there, but the meter never takes pictures, so I'm not sure if I've imagined a flash on Bastanchury or if there really was a flash. I had no idea that there is such a thing as a photo radar that takes pictures of speeding cars. Should I be worried? How much would the fine be? Would I have to go sit in a classroom on my first speed ticket? How long will it take for them to mail the ticket to me?
