Here's some background info: I will be getting my conceal / carry permit soon and want to get a hand gun to occasionally carry. I'm not concerned about having the nicest, biggest, best gun, just something that works and is cheap. Only real answers please - I'm not debating the need or rights for hand guns or to carry them, just looking for some suggestions on inexpensive hand guns. Thanks

Bersa .380 7 round max, $199.00

Comes in Black,chrome,and blue steal

Only problem i had with mine was a jamming problem, Did some research and found if you fire about 500 rounds through it, it will stop jamming. It worked for me.

I'm sorry, I must've missed the part in the Constitution where it said that the 2nd Amendment was about hunting? Hate it when that happens! In an example of why limitations on magazines could be dangerous, take the case in point of a mother and children who's house was broken into. She shepherded her children into a crawl space to protect them and took her DEFENSE weapon with her (a semi automatic handgun). The intruder opened the door and the woman emptied the magazine at the intruder hitting him 5 times. The intruder fled and got away in his vehicle. The point is, the intruder FLED. He didn't drop and die, he left the scene. What if that intruder decided to push his advantage instead and cause harm to that woman and her kids? A very likely scenario. Like a former police officer said when asked the question such as the one you asked above, he responded, "You don't know how many rounds you'll need until the confrontation is finished". I would MUCH rather have too many rounds in my weapons to defend myself and my family rather than not enough. A little food for thought. In the case of the woman above, what would've happened if it was two intruders, or three like happens in many instances? She would likely be hurt or dead.

how about instead of "inexpensive" you look more towards "used"? For example, my step-grandfather passed away a few months ago now and he had a pretty new gloc. His wife hated guns and promptly sold it at a good gunshop. So there is a gun only used about 5 times and now is for sale. I'm sure it would be less than buying new.

I'd be afraid a "cheap" gun would be dangerous or fail at the moment you need it most.

I'm sure if you look for shows or shops in your area you'd find something cool at a good price.

You can get something like the Rossi revolvers in .38 spl caliber, or .357 magnum for under $250 at places like Academy Sports and Outdoors. You may be able to find some better guns like the S&W's at a pawn show for about the same price, but in used condition

I am not sure where you live or if there is a Gander Mountain near you. They sell used guns. Bass Pro might too. (we don't have one close to us so I don't know for sure) The gun shop by us that has an indoor range also sells used guns. Maybe check your yellow pages for a gun shop. I think you'd get a better gun for the amount of money you are looking to spend if you buy used from a shop. (they don't buy crappy ones to resell)

Better not go too cheap because your life may depend on it Colt det. special is a good one and it fires 6 not 5 like most small frames S&W has several. Don't take any chances with your life spend a little more and get a good one. They do not go down in valure either

I would suggest going with a good used weapon from a reputable manufacturer rather than going for the cheap one new. What do you consider cheap? In what caliber? Good luck, hope you practice with your choice of handgun and never have to use it.

Taurus makes a fairly good inexpensive compact weapon.

I prefer Sig's tho.

Rebell, my husband works for our sherriffs department, he had a ruger when he first started, then they had target practice one day and he shot one of his co-workers Springfield, he was really impressed and we went and traded that very day! He really enjoys shooting it. They are not the highest medium price

I'd pick a Ruger. Most reliable and very reasonably priced.
