go and renew it. I seriously doubt that there are any laws on point. Odds are you won't have a problem and the cop is most likely going to be a former serviceman if you get stopped. But why not just renew?

Most states have a rule that a person while on active duty, his drivers license shall remain valid indefinitely until he is able to return to his home state to renew it. Driver's licenses are under state rule, so the feds really have nothing to do with this matter.

a cop would have to be a real sleeze bag to ticket a person that had just spent a yr in Baghdag kicking down doors looking for insurgents and came home wounded.

Ok plain and simple for you....if your license is expired dont drive...or at least dont get pulled over....they MIGHT let you go if you were overseas but dont count on it...
