Before his death, my father learned from his elderly mother that our family's surname was actually an alias, quite a surprise at that late date. Grandmother's memory was a little cloudy on all the specifics, but was able to tell him that my dad's grandfather had been involved in a shooting, went on the lam, and changed his name to something more common in order to avoid capture. My son, a budding genealogist, has since confirmed the story through his research. We've been considering reclaiming our last name legally, not only for the purpose of preserving our heritage and repairing some broken links, but also because our 'real' surname is more pleasing to the ear. There are a number of us, including many of our three generations of cousins, who have expressed interest in the name change. Question: Would it be possible for all of us to petition the court and have our names changed in a single legal proceeding? It seems to me that would be a lot easier and take up a lot less court time.

Any law students out there? I used to work for a fortune 500 company, and after a discussion with the "safety director",at work about the things I found disturbing about the Bush administration,he said that I was a terrorist if I did not go along with everything the president was doing, and that he was going to have me watched. I didn't believe him. He had cameras put in my house (bathroom and all)and a tracker in my car!Several months later I was terminated for making a terrorist statement,I never got to find out what the statement was,or who my accuser was,but I was led off the property by the police.! Just for the record I am a 48 year old white man ,a Democrat, born and raised(work) in Texas, and have not, nor would EVER,do anything the least, terroristic or destructive in any way to my beloved country. It's been a while but it still haunts me. I don't have piece of mind anymore nor do I feel I have privacy at all.I am not crazy.I am just asking for advice, not abuse!

Me and one of my co workers were curious about our benefits package because we needed insurance. I was a FULLTIME employee and I had already been there for OVER 3 months, and my co-worker's 3 month's was coming up 2 or 3 weeks later. So, I asked my boss about the insurance and when I could get it, and she said I had to wait in December, but thats "IF" I could even get it, and she said if I dont get it then I have to wait a whole year more. Well, the next couple of days, my co-worker told me that when she asked my boss, she gave my co-worker all of the insurance papers. Weird right?
Not only this, I wrote a note to my boss on sunday (oct. 7th) that I had to attend a church meeting on the past wednesday (Oct. 10th) at 5:30, so its not like I was taking the day off, I just had to leave at 5:30, and we close at 6. She told me I couldn't go and I had to choose between my job or church. Of course I picked church, so, I feel like I was forced to quit.
So, was this illegal? What do I do?

Just wondered, it it illegal to let off stink bombs in shops for a laugh? What would happen if you were caught doing this by the cops could they actually do you for anything? Causing a public nuisance or something? Could they do you for using noxious chemicals or something?? Any ideas??

Was just reading about the horrific deaths of 146 young immigrant women in a New York city factory in the year 1911, in which the grand jury found the owners of the place innocent, even though it was proven beyond doubt that they always locked the girls inside so no theft of clothing would take place.

How can something like that happen?

I have been using an image on my home theater website that unknowingly belongs to another home theater website. I don't even remember how I got the image and did not realize it was copyrighted.(my dumb assumption). I received an email from a lawyer firm representing the company stating that I remove the image from my website and report to them the income produced by my website. I did respond stating that I did not realize the image belonged to the company they represented and did not even remember where I got it. The website is an informational site about my hobby (home theater) and is not intended for financial gain. I apologized and removed the image. I then received another email from the lawyer firm stating that my negligence was not a valid excuse and I was still responsible for the use of their image. They attached forms for me to fill out for a settlement of $5,000. Is there a good chance they will sue and can they make me pay the 5 grand? I don't have the money. Site is removed

I live in Windsor, Ontario. I suffer from glaucoma and I am legally entitled to medicinal marijuana. The problem is that most plants in Canada are of the Indica strain which simply causes me to fall asleep, hardly helping anything. If I am able to ship from other countries there is an excellent chance of getting Sativa strain plants, or at the very least a mix with higher Sativa strains than what I find in Canada. So I am simply asking if shipping seeds from another country would be a waste of time or if it is simply illegal. Thanks to anyone who answers.

When I was in the military I was sexually assaulted, reported it, was released for the military (not becuase of the assault), and was still working with the military to pursue with charges but when I was to testify the military contacted me to tell me that they were not going to go through with the court marshell and was just going to release him from the military. Am I able to persue charges outside of the military? It never went to court or anything like that. This has really effected me and I feel that I need to see closer on this matter. Thank you.

I have a claim against Barclays for nicking £2500 worth of my money through "penalty charges". I asked for ait back, they said no, I tooke em to court through MoneyClaim, a legitimate online court system thing! Barclays defended and Moneyclaim stayed my claim until the test case is over, so I appealed and they sent my appeal to my local Willesden County Court to make a decision to let me have my day in court or to wait 2 years for this test case and consequent appeals. Ive hit a brick wall after Willesden County Court sent me a notice saying that judge had decided to stay my claim until the test case.

So, what now, can I appeal the decision by Willesden, if so what if they say no again, can I appeal to Crown Court, Court of Appeals etc. Barclays take the pi**, they're probably bribing the flippin courts!

I cant just leave it, what can I do, has anyone been this far?

Thanks

OJ Simpson killed his ex-wife and Ron Goldman, but was found not guilty by a jury. Blacks tell us to "get over it", he was found not guilty. Reginald Denny, a completely innocent white man, was pulled from his truck and almost beaten to death. Videotape left no doubt in anyones mind (anyone with a mind) that Antoine Miller, Henry Watson, Damian Williams, Anthony Brown, Gary Williams and Lance Parker commited attempted murder. Yet Damian Williams was the only one convicted of a felony, the others got off nearly scott free. Blacks tell us to get over it, the jury ruled and we should accept it. Now 8 prison guards and a nurse have been absolved of guilt in the death of a black teenage prisoner in Florida, the jury ruled, but the blacks will not accept this. Now they claim that they can't get justice. Can someone please explain this to me.

I am looking to find a lawyer within Pennsylvania who can work in NY state also. To be specific, Chautauqua county, NY. I've used three sites to try finding a lawyer. Most send me to lawyers or law firms in Buffalo, NY. that is about a 1hr. 13min. away if you have a smooth travel. I live closer to Erie, PA. I am starting to become frustrated. My boss gave me a number for a lawyer in PA, but he is a) expensive and b) may not be able to work in NY. The reason I need a lawyer is I want to get custody of my daughter. Her mother has custody and lives in NY state. I live in PA.
