not only do we need to recognize, we need to get involved . every African American should be involved in their city's chapter of the NAACP, volunteering at a local Boys and Girls club in the urban area. we need to be educating are people about what is happen and guiding are youth on positive path so they will not fall victim of the mistreatment of the Justice system.Sometime we are so busy trying to get what's OURS we are forgetting where we come from and how the people of theses eras stuck together like glue .the mistreatment from the Justice system will not change over night , however getting involved in a urban area will change the life of a youth the day you meet them.
I almost forgot , all i have to say about these comments and the people that left them is, i find it funny that you have so much to say about a race and its culture you know nothing about. Just because you don't see racism or mistreatment does not mean it does not exist and until you're in a situation where you are forced to live a culture other than your own while keep your owns alive(when people are making fun of it b/c they don't feel the need to educate them self about something that is different ) , you may want to think 3x before you speak bad about a race and or a culture that is not your own.

I think this whole shebang is ridiculous. I personally think Mychal Bell is just being made an example of, for the sheer ignorance of the justice system. I'm all for having Mr. Bell released. (Surprise- this is from a white woman from California.)

I doubt that all of the people you know that are in jail are innocent. think logically and you won't get in trouble. that's just the case and point. don't blame others for your mistakes. What exactly does this question have to do with black people? What exactly were you hoping to gain from this type of question anyways. boo-hoo, he's going to jail oh well. there's not much that can be done now.

Race relations in this country still have a long way to go.
Mychal Bell going to jail for a crime that happened BEFORE the Jena 6 episode is NOT a good battle to fight.
Bill Cosby will be on Meet the Press tomorrow morning for the whole hour. I suggest you tune in and get a fresh and dare I say different perspective on race relations in this country.
If you were talking about ANY of the horrible statistics like 70% of ALL African American babies born in the US are born OUT of wedlock, then you have a good discussion.
Mychal Bell BELONGS in jail.

I would advise you get the facts on this Jena 6 bit, Number one, the boy that mr Bell and his buddies tried to kill had nothing to do with the kids that hung the nooses in the tree months earlier, nor did he have anything to do with the supposidly fight that occured later. This was pure black on white hate crime with no justification. The media and Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are making their living stiring up hatred between blacks and whites. And a lot on both sides are taking advantage of it. From what I understand Mr Bell was put in jail on another unrelated charge..I received a violation notice for answering this question a few nights ago, but you can report me all you want to and I will still request that you get your facts before you start holloring Racism.....I am about as far from a raciest as you can get for your information.............##########

Back in jail for probation violation....for a crime committed BEFORE the incident that made national news....I think you should do nothing.
EDIT - yes, this is true. But just because he (possibly) was treated unjustly in the justice system for the Jena 6 beating, doesn't make him a saint. It also doesn't mean that he isn't a criminal...

how about applauding the judicial system for putting a violent thug behind bars? he was already on double probation for other acts of violence, and he did it again. if you don't think this punk should be in jail for stomping on a white kid's head, then if somebody beats the hell out of you and stomps on your head, he shouldn't go to jail either.

Who?
Who cares? If he's in jail, it's probably because he broke the law by doing something heinous. People don't just get put in jail for planting roses, you know.
