Children of undocumented immigrants are paying a high price for tough, new US immigration policies, according to a study released Wednesday, which said minors often are left behind when their parents are detained or deported.

Before answering, remember that enforcement of our immigration laws in the 1960's led to automation in tomato-harvesting. To this DAY, automation (provided by well-paid engineers, rep's, marketing specialists, techs, etc) is so much cheaper than manual labor, NO MAJOR GROWER is using labor, today!

Thanks in advance for your answers.

It appears to me NY wants to get Drivers lic for illegals for only 2 reasons. Once one is the money the state will generate form issuing one...the other is so the illegals can have access to be voters.

I have heard it's for none of this...it's for safety reasons. Are they trying to tell me an illegal will be a safer driver if he has a license in his back pocket????....I don't think so.

Let me know your reason behind this issue.

The Phelps stated on 2020 tonight "we are a nation of laws" while a video played of their children kicking the American flag like a football. This same statement has been made many times on this forum, are we really a nation of laws? Why aren't all of the "true Americans" protesting this treatment of our flag? Is it ok because these are American citizens and not illegal immigrants?

Or would it just be common sense to require only ONE and let us learn as many others as we VOLUNTEER to learn?

[I speak English and Chinese, have family in Mexico, Germany and much of Asia and have seen people learn English from zero in under a year...WHILE WORKING.]

2007-11-02 17:33:43 · 25 answers · asked by Anonymous

Yes I totally agree that people who are living in the US should know English and should make the effort to learn the best they can. That's just common sense and also respectful.

But what about Spanish which is also spoken in the US?

Do you think it is a good idea for foreigners to try to learn Spanish too?

I see a lot of people on here that are very opinionated about the undocumented being here, or, about people speaking Spanish (and I only say this one because it IS THE most commonly spoken language among the undocumented in the US). My question is this: would you approach someone that you thought to be here illegally and face- to-face tell them to "go home" or similar?

I like to think that we are a more "civilized" country than to attack people when the policy is the problem.

I know I am!

The law went into effect Thursday and is intended to make life difficult for illegal immigrants in Oklahoma.

The message is: "If you're an illegal immigrant, you are not welcome here in Oklahoma."

The new law restricts the ability of illegal immigrants to obtain government IDs or public assistance. It also gives police authority to check the immigration status of anyone arrested, which can lead to deportations.

20 million illegals in this country is quite enough.

OTHER STATES....ARE YOU LISTENING??
We need to make coming here illegally less attractive
and Oklahoma has taken a step in the right direction.

Okay I need your opinion about a story of a Chinese woman who immigrated to Canada, whether she deserved the citizenship or not, please explain as well, I can't choose which side I need explanations from brighter people like you to make up my mind.

There was an old Chinese woman, about 70 years old presently, she immigrated to Canada 30 years ago with her husband when she was about 40 years old and 5 year old son, her husband eventually passes away and she is left alone in canada with her son ,

THEN many years later(which is the present, shes 70 years old now and her 5 year old son is now a grown up university graduate)
,, one day she reads a bi-weekly community newspaper that the Ministry of Immigration is sending back immigrants to their country, so then immediately she tells her son to get her a citizenship, after all these 30 years she feels the need of getting a citizenship so she doesnt get sent back

----I WILL EXTEND THE STORY, READ MY EXTENDED MESSAGE DUE TO THE WORD LIMIT-

when those exploited people risk their lives crossing oceans, rivers and deserts trying to come here to escape the exploitation, they want them out? I know this sounds crazy but I think it's all part of a master plan. The corporations want massive illegal immigration so that way they can turn the United States into a 3rd world country they can exploit to the max. The more poor people they can lure to one place the easier it is for them to make billions. Our fascist, corporation-controlled government doesn't care about the American people or any of the world's people for that matter, The world's elite don't care either. Our government pretends they are tough on illegal immigration, but in reality they are not because most of the peopel in our goverment are friends with the people who run all these corporations! It all makes sense to me now!

We are dumbing down the school systems so Illigal Mexicans can attend public schools thus not giving Legal Students a proper and higher level of education. The Asian immigrants generally bring the level of education higher. If Illigal and non- english speaking students want to learn to speak english why not have their parents send them to private schools? I pay taxes so my children can get ahead, not for illegals to dumb down my children with an inferior education.

BELLEVUE, WA – New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton supports giving drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens, but she opposes right-to-carry statutes that provide concealed carry licenses for law-abiding American citizens and others who are here legally, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“Based on her comments during Tuesday night’s debate,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “Sen. Clinton must think people in this country illegally are entitled to greater rights than citizens and others who are here legally. Maybe it’s because she knows that illegal aliens would vote for her, while law-abiding American gun owners won’t.”

Gottlieb noted that Mrs. Clinton was the only presidential candidate, either Republican or Democrat, who ignored an invitation to appear at the recent Gun Rights Policy Conference in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, near Cincinnati. The annual conference is co-sponsored by CCRKBA and the Second Amendment Foundation.

“Every other candidate, both Republican and Democrat, either attended, called or sent their regrets that they could not attend,” Gottlieb said, “but Mrs. Clinton simply blew off the opportunity to speak to a representative cross-section of America’s 80 million gun-owning voters. Is it possible she doesn’t think she may need some of those 80 million votes, if she gets her party’s nomination?

“It is clear she wants special priveleges for illegal immigrants, yet she opposes allowing American citizens to carry firearms to protect themselves from illegal aliens and others who commit violent crimes,” he said.

“Since Hillary Clinton moved out of the White House early, so she could run for the Senate from New York as an obvious stepping stone toward her own run for the Oval Office,” Gottlieb stated, “she has supported every gun control measure to come along. She supports registration and licensing, she supports banning sport-utility rifles and magazine restrictions and she opposed legislation to prevent junk harassment lawsuits against the firearms industry. “Hillary Clinton, like too many of her Democrat colleagues, has given mere lip service to gun owners with vague claims that she ‘supports’ the Second Amendment,” Gottlieb said. “It now appears that she is more interested in the welfare of people who don’t belong in this country, than in the civil rights of people who do belong here.” http://www.ccrkba.org/pub/rkba/press-releases/hillary.aliens.htm

Alright illegal immigration seems to be a huge topic. To some people, far more important than education, health care, potential energy problems...just to name a few. To me its the least of the issues I would like to see addressed right away.

I'm wondering as to what others think about this issue as well as the others.

do you lust over things that you cant have including money Do you take it out on illegals. Are you so brain washed to see that this is Mexico's land, especially the southwest. It was stolen, and I dont care bout the treaty of guadalupe. That was all a lie and certain ppl at that time were criminals and made Mexico sign it. They gave us pennies just so history could say it was bought fair and square. I wish you all would be gone outof the southwest. We are here to stay and nothing you can do about it. Why do you think the population here is mainly hispanics. We win, so get over it.

An integrated illegal immigrant or a non-integrated immigrant? I'm really on the fence about this. Here's why:

I oppose illegals becase they are just that, and we can't be spending our tax money on them. Simple right. A friend of mine's bf is illegal, which bothered me, but he speaks English fluently, holds a job owning a food corp with other mexicans and actually makes ony while paying taxes, and always pays for medical services discretely at those quick clinic places. he syas he wouldn't use our tax money for one reason: he doesn't want to go to our institutions because they will find him out, he rather pay cash up front, and if he can't he'll go home. On the other hand, my gf's parents are legal immigrants. They have been here 30 years, have not learned any English, stay within their community, and take welfare, healthcare subsidization, and keep sponsoring more people to bring over who also utilize these handouts (they're Chinese). I don't like both! WTF?!?
