Why is this issue so important, lets see...
1. Costs taxpayers 70 Billion a YEAR. This is a huge chunk of our deficit. This affects our economy NEGATIVELY.
2. 50-75% of all Illegal narcotics come from the southern border.
3. Many foreign diseases are coming because these people aren't checked.
4. Anarchy(20million are here ILLEGALLY).
5. Depressing wages, taking jobs
6. Explosion in city growth, nature is being overrun
7. English is being rendered obselete
8. Overruning our culture and race.
9. Many towns and suburbs are being taken over by illegals.
10. Quality of public schools are plummeting. Grades are dropping too.
11. Threat to sovereignty.
12. Threat from Jihadists. In this day and age, our Southern border should be impenetrable.
13. Account for 1/3 of all prisoners nationwide. Cause crime and destruction.

It’s a huge issue. But I’m going to take your points one by one.
”As for taking other people's jobs. They do the job that no one else is willing to do”
I for one can’t stand that ‘They are only taking jobs American’s won’t do’ argument. It’s false, 70% of the jobs American’s won’t do are done by Americans or legal immigrants.
‘They make our food in most if not all restaurants in the city if not all of them, keep parks and properties clean, as well as build the new homes that keep springing up everywhere’
: ‘Jobs that pay less than minimum wage. Harvesting crops, cleaning buildings, busting their humps in kitchens, amongst the many other jobs.’
So basically you want slavery back. I here I though NYC was a progressive. Yep you want to pay them enough so they can feed themselves, cloth themselves, and if enough of them live in one house have a roof over their head. Let see in the South before the War Between the States, slaves were given food, clothing and a roof over their head, not much difference is there? Only you feel good about yourself because you don’t own them and you don’t have to take care of them in their old age.
‘You complain, but explain how you eat that salad that’s on your plate, that fruit that sits in the fridge, or live in that new home that was just built.’
Only a VERY small cost of that salad or the fruit is labor. Even if it cost twice as much the end price wouldn’t change that much, same thing with fruit. As far as the new house goes, do you want to support illegal aliens or Americans? Americans you know the people who spend their money here. Or do you want to support people who send it to Mexico or some other country. At least when you deal with citizens or legal immigrants you have some legal recourse on if things go badly. Even if you win a suit against an illegal alien what hope do you have of every collecting from them? But if an illegal alien sues you and wins, you end up paying and paying.
‘Better yet you eat that delicious dinner you think is actually prepared by an Italian, German or French chef.’
No I don’t. I know the chefs at the restaurants I eat at. If you like good meals I would suggest you get to know your chefs too. But I know the chefs at the restaurants are here legally, because they are US citizens.
‘This country was founded on immigrants.’
Yes it was, but immigrants follow the law, illegal aliens don’t. What make you think someone who already has shown they don’t respect our immigration laws will follow any of our other laws?
‘As much as you want to stop it, that will never happen because when someone wants something they will try to get it no matter what.’
Even if that statement was true, does that give anyone the right to break the law? To put it another way, would you think its right for someone to break the law to get what they want? Should we reward people who break the law?

immigration, whether illegal or legal is a very complex issue of utmost importance that should immediately be tackled and resolved by Congress and this Administration. It is probably the only issue that could resolve the problems in National Security, Health and Unemployment. The fact of the matter is that there already exists an illegal immigration problem which is at hand, and as admitted according to Government estimates number between 12-20 million people. Why it is of utmost importance: As to National Security - America cannot claim to be a safe haven if you have some 12-20 million people living under the shadows of society. Let us admit the fact that there are some bad eggs among those 12 - 20 million who might have a different attitude towards America's safety. So, unless the Government resolves first, the immigration issue, it's National Security is always a big question mark. As to Health Reform: You cannot pass a Health Reform bill without knowing what to do with the probable integration of about 12 - 20 million people into your system, if need be. As to Unemployment: You cannot pass a decent Jobs Bill without knowing the impact of adding up 12 - 20 million people lining up for unemployment checks or lining up for jobs, or the impact of the loss of 12 -20 million consumers and their purchasing power, if in case the Government decides to deport all of them. i feel so passionate about this issue, because it makes me curse on the sorry state of our political system. Our policy makers know that there is an existing problem, they know the solution, but yet, they can't even decide how to go about it. Sucks....

Why do so many people talk about how nice things are with illegal immigrants doing the work for half the price that Americans would be willing to do it for?
It's cheating the Americans, native and legal immigrants, out of the money to give the job to the illegal immigrants. If the cheating had never been done, NYC and the rest of America would be running just fine, maybe not as smoothly as it does with our modern day version of slavery greasing the wheels, but people would have figured out how to make things work.
There will be some inconvience to people's routine when this problem is finally dealt with, if it ever is, but people will figure out how to make things run.

illegal immigration should be the highest. Because of the things you mentioned:
education - cost is rising because illegals are getting free education on taxpayer.
healthcare - cost is rising because of illegals who cross border for care or receive treatment without insurance. Also, illegals who are afraid to go to the dr because of their status can spread and keep disease longer then those who can visit a dr. example: staph, tb, etc..
energy - doesn't really matter. Thats another ballgame and thats years and years away from being fixed. Takes 15 years to construct a nuclear power plant or 8 years for others.
So, if illegal immigration affects all the things you mentioned, YES, it should be top priority. Not to mention the fact that if they can cross the border, so can terroists. Thats the scary part.
Come to America legally. We will welcome you with open arms and help you create a great life. Come here illegally and reap the rewards of tax paying legal citizens and we want you gone! The security of this nation needs to know who is here and what their name is.
Tell me this, if you went to Mexico, across the border. Would the mexican government give you free healthcare, free education, free drivers license if you were illegally in Mexico. NO! So why should we
Come here LEGALLY!

Illegal immigration is a huge drain on our economy, our health care system, our educational system, and even on our energy. It costs us huge dollars in court costs, keeps law-abiding citizens unemployed, takes jobs away from the people who need them and otherwise is destroying the country. Children of illegal immigrants born on U.S. soil get ADC (Aide to Dependent children) which is collected by their illegal immigrant parents who are working off the books and sending their money back to their countries of origin while bankrupting our welfare and social systems. Illegal immigration contributes in large part to the problems -- in other words, illegal immigration creates the problems and exacerbates the problems. Not only that, but illegal immigrants have no respect for the law and therefore are destroying the social fabric and law-abiding nature of the USA. They are lawless and their children, because children learn what they live, are learning how to be lawless and they are teaching others how to be lawless. When they don't learn the language, it adds to the education costs. When they have so many children, it adds to the education costs and they aren't giving back! They are taking, taking, taking and demanding to be rewarded for it. Giving back would require them to assimilate into our society and of course, they don't do that. They use the E.R. for medical care driving up the costs to the middle class who must pay for all these facilities. They take jobs that U.S. Citizens need and want.
On the news this morning, there were maps showing the states with the highest unemployment rates. The Chicagoland area and the states surrounding Chicago have some of the highest unemployment rates. We also have some 500,000 illegal immigrants. Just think, if we did away with the benefits for the Sanctuary City and took all the jobs away from the illegal immigrants, what that would do to the unemployment rate. Remember illegal immigrants are not really subject to U.S. law -- when they get arrested they claim they are Mexican or Korean or Chinese or Polish Nationals and we have to call the embassies. More often than not, they are let go which means that only U.S. Citizens are being punished for breaking the law. That is unequal treatment under the law and is destroying the moral, ethical and social fiber of the country, not to mention the integrity of the USA.
In yesterday's paper, there was a small blurb about $10 billion dollars of drug money being laundered in Mexico per year and then returned to U.S. Banks to facilitate the illegal activities and terrorism and drug running. When you look at the whole picture, you can see that illegal immigration is the contributing factor -- the major contributing factor to all of the problems in the USA, the most important being the loss of integrity, morality, ethics, honesty, etc.. Illegal immigration is a drain on the USA -- a substantial drain and it is bleeding us dry. We will solve the majority of our problems if we get control of the illegal immigration and the corruption it promotes.
One other thing -- when we control immigration, we have a better chance of ensuring that we get the "cream of the crop" for immigrants -- people who want to be here and are willing to do what it takes to be legal and contribute to the U.S. and our economy. Today, we're getting the dregs -- the bottom of the barrel as far as quality of person is concerned and they are not contributing to the good things in the country. They are bringing back diseases that we had irradicated. They are bringing in crime and lawlessness and gangs and drugs and tainting our food, marching in our streets, demanding sanctuary while breaking our laws and stealing from us. How can that be good for the USA?
I stopped eating out and I buy my fruits and vegetables from local farmers or grow my own. I'm not going to be part of the problem. I am a part of the solution. I buy American. I demand green cards and proof of legal right to work in the USA. I report illegals. I refuse to pay for their law-breaking ways. I obey the laws and I demand that they do as well. Our stores and gas stations in our area are already crying about the loss of business because we have led a movement. I've noticed fewer and fewer non-English speaking employees and some stores have taken to placing signs in their windows claiming that they do not hire illegal immigrants -- that they check references. We shun anyone who doesn't speak English in public and we refuse to speak to them. We're doing our part. The government needs to do its job, too. We are demanding that our local police get 287 g training and that all the cars being driven by illegal immigrants get seized and that they are given a choice -- go home or to jail -- your choice.

I think it is a very important issue.
I don't hold it against the Mexicans though, I think the people that hire them ought to be prosecuted. They are the ones making a profit off the backs of the Mexicans; and we are the ones who have to subsidize their workers. They reap a two fold reward, while we get screwed yet again.
Hang the employers for treason.
(got carried away), but at the least make the employers repay the goverment for the care of , and tax dollars lost because of the illegals they hire

The education and health care issues involve illegal immigration so basically the only concern you have listed that is not directly affected by illegal immigration is the energy issue.

It IS the most important. If we don't have a secure Country then we will eventually not have anything. Illegal immigration and our open borders are putting us in danger every single day. Already our healthcare system is overburdened by illegals.
A secure border secures America's future, not that hard to figure out.
