We are dumbing down the school systems so Illigal Mexicans can attend public schools thus not giving Legal Students a proper and higher level of education. The Asian immigrants generally bring the level of education higher. If Illigal and non- english speaking students want to learn to speak english why not have their parents send them to private schools? I pay taxes so my children can get ahead, not for illegals to dumb down my children with an inferior education.

They teach to the test because they're held accountable for how many of their kids pass the test, and very little else.
Though illegals are gasoline on the fire, our one-size-fits-no-one public education system has been worthless for decades. Even when I was in school, the problem was the same: the whole class advances at the pace of the slowest student. 'No child left behind' standardized testing just forces the slowest to plod along slightly faster. It's worthless.
What we really need is to group students by ability - let the smart kids succeed, let the dumb ones fail.
Yes, leave some of them behind.

3D Farms - actually the US does admit educated legal immigrants. I should know I am one of them, and I am from Mexico. I have a Master's degree and my husband (who is Italian) has a doctorate degree. I know plenty of people from Latin American who are college educated who come to this country to make it a better place. We actually pay higher taxes when we come to the US if we have a workers visa. Why because we came legally and we wait our turn. Many educated immigrants do come to this country each year, not our fault you don't hear about us that often.

Anyone with 1/2 a brain can see that. What does that say about our elected officials that can't?
Most of these kids should not be in our schools to begin with. Common sense tells you that. Only a perverted Supreme Court could find written in the Constitution (invisible ink no doubt) that the illegal aliens have a constitutional right to a free education paid for by American Citizens. (Plyler v DOE)

I totally agree with you. When I was in AP US History, the entire year the teacher taught to the test, and you know what happened? Only two out of his 148 students passed the test. Dumbing down the school system is ridiculous and those who do it, the teachers, should be fired and then tarred and feathered.

Actually, we are dumbing down the schools because "no child left behind" takes away funding from schools if too few children (Hispanic or not) fail the standardized tests.

students that dont speak spanish are normally in a different class than the ones that speak spanish since they need help with their english...thats how it was when i was in school a couple of yrs ago. if you want the highest education then why dont you put your kids in private schools???? its not only illegals bringing down the education... its all the students that dont want to learn or their parents can careless if their kids are in school. my brother is white and hes a slow learner so when he didnt understand something he would be the class clown and slow down everyone.

Yes , you are so right about that .
The illegals that come here are poor , uneducated
and unskilled , these people add much less national wealth , then they cost the American taxpayers .
How about a policy that admits skilled and educated people on the basis of what they can do for this country , not what the country can do for them ?
