Immigration - October 2006

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Immigration

When I am not promoting my CD, I work a normal job in a photo lab where I take passport pictures for people. The majority of customers I serve can barely speak English. I am sure they are using passport pictures to obtain fake documentation in order to get work in the US. I feel conflicted about this, as though I am assisting their crime. At the same time, I need an income. Last I checked, you have to be a US citizen or legal resident to get a passport. I've had to look at their Mexican ID's to spell their name to complete the orders, so I know this is just wrong.

U.S. Population Will Reach 300 Million This Week
Population in the United States will reach the 300 million mark this week while future projections put the United States at the half-billion mark by 2050. Eighty percent of the nation's population growth is due to immigration. If the Senate's guest worker amnesty were implemented, the country could reach a billion people by the end of this century.

New Poll Shows Immigration as a Key Issue in Contested Races
A new poll finds intense concern over immigration in several tight congressional races. Some of these tough races include races in Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio. Of likely voters nationally, 53 percent said that immigration was either their most important issue or one of their top three issues. When asked about voting for candidates that would increase immigration, 70 percent said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who wanted to double legal immigration. The Senate guest worker amnesty passed in May would more than double legal immigration into the U.S. Forty-four percent of those questioned want enforcement that causes illegal aliens to go home with 20 percent favoring large-scale deportations and 31 percent supporting amnesty for illegal aliens. Also, three out of four voters in the nation agreed that illegal immigration is caused by "grossly inadequate" enforcement efforts, not because of overly restrictive legal immigration policies.

Is The U.S. standard of living that illegal aliens find so desirable are high only because of the laws that they circumvented? It’s time for the U.S. government to uphold our immigration laws. It’s time for Americans to stop taking our blessings for granted. And it’s time for those who desire to be American citizens to get back in line so the laws that have made this country so desirable to live in are still in place for them to uphold.

Not only is this woman disrespecting our country's laws and the civil rights movement history, she is also disrespecting her own country - Mexico.
If she has work skills, and is such a "community leader" - why not get back to her own country as an activist to improve conditions for those who are impoverished?
A more productive approach by her "supporters" would be to put together a fund of cash and RELOCATE her to Mexico - get her housing, help her to find a job. Get her son into school.
Unicef estimates that between 2000 and 2006 90% of children in Mexico between 6 and 14 y/o enroll in school. But, only 1 in 10 will complete primary school. Arellano will face challenges - but she would also face challenges in this country.
She has choices - but remaining here is not one of them. If she does not return voluntarily to Mexico, will she be deported?
She will not be asked to give up her seat on the bus, or to move to the back of the bus - she will not even be on the bus. And there will likely be no "sanctuary."

I know these may sound like stupid question but we need to think about it when we call our selves Americans only if we live in the USA. The name is United States OF America.

I am an American Citizen, my wife a Mexican w/out a visa my son was born in Mexico, what are the appropriate steps I need to take to get him legalized?

I post this question before and I did'nt received any real answers.

Do you know that 9 out of 10 people in Unemployment benefits are always doing something on the side and getting pay under the table.

Do you know that most of the (legal) people getting US government cheese are earning money on the side.

Do you know that most of the people living in low income housing never report their REAL income and most of time they sub-lease their place.

Do you know that most of these LOW income people that are receiving free benefits reject free food if Salmon or good meat is not included in it.

Do you know that most of these people CAN WORK!.

Do you know that most illegal immigrants PAY TAXES and do not claim it back.

NOW... Do you know that most of the anti-immigrants are hypocrites or mislead by raciest individuals.

If you do not know I DO!!!

I know we have immigration problems but we are focusing on the wrong solution. Let's stop hate against any other human race.

This has made the "rounds" on the Internet, but deserves repeating. It is attributed to an Australian dentist. Still good.

You probably missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is. So they would know when they found one.
(Good one, mate!!!!)

"An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan."

An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as Native Americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.

An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return.

When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!

As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. Americans welcome the best of everything...the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America.

Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

Okay. The immigration gods have smiled on you and all the policies you support will be implemented. However, you would have to concede ONE thing. What is that one compromise that you are willing to make?

And please don't say no compromise because that is the point of the question. I'm just trying to get an idea how far either side are willing to go in order to resolve this issue.

And let's try to keep things civil. It's only Monday, after all.

Thanks.

But in Northern Calif. the Grape Owners are having a hard time getting help because now the illegal immigrants have now moved into landscaping, Carpentry ,Welding, Plumbing and other of our skilled labor force for halve the wages. The Gov. Out sources out a lot of Jobs now they allow our home land work force to be taken over by illegal immigrants. We do not want them in the Fields either
We do not know who is coming over the boarder and the Field Owners do not care if they are illegal we need to protect our food source from contamination by terrorist
To do this we need Fine Employers $5,000 each employee the First time the second time they loose the Company. If you rent to any the first time you are fined ½ yr’s taxes the second time you loose your home. If they can not live or work here they will not come here and leave.
The ones that stay could be deported a lot cheaper selling of the homes and Co from fines can offset cost.
We really need to start putting AMERICAN’S FIRST
