Just don't go !! But unfortunately no one but them really know how they feel. Anyway 50%
of American marriages are a sham to begin with that is why they end in divorce.

If an unlawful alien marries an American citizen, they are going to stay an unlawful alien till all of the right immigration varieties have been filed and approved. Marrying an American citizen would not immediately make you eligible to be a citizen your self. you nevertheless ought to record for a short lived visa, and then for everlasting residency it quite is conditional and may be bumped off at any time. The conditional everlasting residency is then replaced to an enduring resident after the marriage has final over 2 years (except of a topic like spousal abuse and then i think they are going to make an exception). everlasting citizens ought to then wait some greater years till now they are even eligible to record for naturalization. And till naturalization occurs, your status could be revoked and you're sent lower back to the country you immigrated from. notwithstanding, this could basically happen in case you have performed something terrible, notwithstanding it remains reported.

"my old illegal buddy from work ,called me after 2 years to come to his fake wedding"?????
You were not TOO concerned about his illegal status two years ago!
I am as against Illegals as you can get.
I turned my mother and sister in for welfare fraud, so I would let immigration know about this guy, but that is me and if you really were worried abou his illegal status, you could have turned him in for at least 2 years!
You have some good replies already. he can still be deported, Hell, there is a good chance that he is already married in another country, That happens a lot!

You want us to tell you what to do? Is that it?
OK here goes:
1. DO NOT GO
2. CALL IMMIGRATION
3. BE A MAN AND LET THEM KNOW WHY YOU WILL NOT ATTEND.

Be prepared for the backlash, especially that of an 18 yrs. old girl!

NEVER, EVER take a stance in private that you refuse to profess publically.

Just because an illegal marries a US Citizen DOES not make him a legal resident. The bride needs to initiate an I130 visa, this means they will be requited several pieces of information including how long he has been in the US, and if he has been here illegally then we will say by by to him! He will be barred from the US for up to 10 years. Chances are he is here illegally and he wont be eligible to be a legal citizen any time soon!

Obviously you like this girl too right?

It is the girl's choice. You cannot make that decision for her nomatter how much you hate the guy.
You said its a fake marriage...How do you know? Did you ask them if they loved each other?

They might love each other and even if he doesnt and marries her and she finds out later that he tricked her, she can complain and withdraw her sponsorhip and he will get nothing and be sent back.

Besides if he came here illegally, I doubt he could get his greencard...the law requires for you to have come into this country legally even if your visa expires here.

Just leave them alone and let then deal with their marriage.
They will sort their lives out...

Nobody is putting a gun on the girl's head to marry him. If she likes the money she is receiving for his legalization, it is a total different issue now... she probably doesn't complain because she is receiving money from this guy to fix him papers. Just butt out of their business if you care about this "poor victim" (oh please.....) because you might get this girl in trouble too for getting married for money.. there is a lot of American girls and guys that do that(not to mention any races) Believe it or not...

I agree with Stephanie

Go ahead people give me thumbs down... I know you don't wanna face the reality and accept the truth.

Why do you refer to him as your buddy when it is quite obvious you think very little of him?

If you haven't seen him for two years how do you know he is marrying an American girl fraudulently?

If you don't agree with them getting married then don't go. Apparently the "buddy" made a real mistake in thinking you were a good enough friend to invite you to something as personal as his wedding.

Well, write your Congressman about it, and find a better keyboard! LOL

Marriage fraud for immigration purposes IS sleazy, but it's the tip of the illegal immigration iceberg...Mexico wants to go to the UN about the border fence, I say the United States goes to the UN and demands a refund for decades of unrepaid aid given to Mexico...yeah, that'll happen...

What do you think will happen with sanctuary cities this year?
The democrats are forecast to win in November, what do you think they'll put forward in terms of immigration policy?

I just married a Mexican. I can marry whoever I want. I have been with him for five years, and I love him with all my heart. Not all Mexicans marry for their papers. If you don't want to go to his wedding then don't go. Is he really your friend? Why be so worried about what he does? It's not your problem. You don't have to live his life.

If he marries her, he is still illegal. He will have to go home and have her apply for his entry visa.
