"the House Administration Committee approved a bill to require states to ask for photo identification from voters by November 2008 and proof of citizenship by 2010. The full House could vote on it as early as next week."

I think it is long overdue.

You need ID for just about everything, these days. Why not for voting?

What do you think?

It is in the Border Fence Bill they passed (which by the way still needs to be funded).

"The amendment requires Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to file a full report with Congress evaluating "the authority of personnel of United States Customs and Border Protection to stop vehicles that enter the United States illegally and refuse to stop when ordered to do so," and compare those policies to other department pursuit policies.

Chertoff has 60 days from the passage of the bill to file the report with the House Committee on Homeland Security and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate."

A little Mexican boy goes into the kitchen where his mom is baking. He puts his hand in the flour and wipes it all over his face.

"Mom, look, I'm a white boy." His mom slaps him in the face and says "Go show your father"..

He goes to his dad in the living room and says "Look dad, I'm a white boy."

His dad slaps him hard in the face and says "Go show your grandmother."

The boy goes in his grandmothers room and says "Mira, abuelita, I'm a white boy". His grandmother slaps him in the face and sends him back to his mother.

His mother says "See...did you learn anything from that?"

To which the boy replies, "Sure did... I've only been white for five minutes and I already don't like you Mexicans.

They are not even citizens..how can we oppress them if they are not even in this country on paper.

The white minority in Latin countries oppresses the metizos and indigenous people. I'll give them that..but why do white people in this country have to take the heat for it.?......isn't that a case of mis-guided anger....or do that just use the race card because they are ruthless and have no character?

Most people in the US had family members that came to the US from other countries and came through legally at Ellis Island. I hear this argument a lot from people who think we should "sent the Mexicans back to where they came from." So my question is, if we set up something similar to Ellis Island at the Mexican boarder, would that be a good way for Mexicans to immigrate legally?

when theyre breaking the law for being here in the first place? the laws are there for a reason. they help preserve our american culture and keep jobs here for americans. jobs americans would and did do before illegals came. also--half the jobs they take are jobs like mcdonalds. not exactly back breaking. i am convinced there is no argument you can make that is actually relevant supporting illegals. and if anyone says its racist they can be discredited then and there for the reasons i explained. aren't illegals nothing more than criminals who are too lazy to fix their own country so they come here to make ours like theres? seriously, if illegals are such better workers, why did our countries turn out so different? because americans did a better job. if they come here they'll just bring us down to a fricken 3rd world spanish speaking country. and nobody wants that. except for maybe illegals. agree?

I studied astronautics/aerospace engineering at a very good college in the US but upon graduation I had to go back to my native country for various reasons (I am not a US citizen). There is no field of work in my country where I can use my skills as an engineer. I am desperately seeking to work as an engineer in the States. Would I be able to obtain an employer-sponsored visa? How would I go about doing that? Much thanks.

.... why is it that when, I, or anyone I know, is refered to in a "Racist" manner, i,e. honky or white trash, or any other variation ,it dosen't bother us at all? Do you think that people who do react (over- react?), have an ulterior motive for doing so?

Okay now i start to notice that I sometimes am catching the same illegal aliens at border. They keep trying to come over and over. I even deport some more than once. Mexicans think this is game? There are no harsh penalties for being illegal just deportation. All they do is come back again. Should we make new laws?

My friend is a legal resident here. She was born in Mexico and hasn't fully attained citizenship yet. A couple months ago she told me that she was pissed when the marchers carried a Mexican flag and burnt the American one. She thought it was a better idea when they carried both flags together. She said she would die for this country and she knows her family would too. That she is grateful for every thing this country has given her and was afraid that even though she has been here for almost her whole life (she is 26) and she has a green card That she might get deported. Not all Mexicans hate America and are using this country to send money back to Mexico break our laws abuse us then leave. So why do people put them all in the same boat?

Isn't that waht we should be doing in theory if we as citizens live by the laws of this country. They complain that this country breaks up thier families...so why don't we send them back to thier families and give them what they want? If they want to come here they have to do it legally...this isn't rocket science..correct? Deporting illegals would be a lot easier than people think.
