It is in the Border Fence Bill they passed (which by the way still needs to be funded).

"The amendment requires Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to file a full report with Congress evaluating "the authority of personnel of United States Customs and Border Protection to stop vehicles that enter the United States illegally and refuse to stop when ordered to do so," and compare those policies to other department pursuit policies.

Chertoff has 60 days from the passage of the bill to file the report with the House Committee on Homeland Security and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate."

El Paso Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, whose story was first published in the Daily Bulletin on Aug. 6, are facing 20 years in prison for their role in the nonfatal shooting of Mexican national Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila, who ran away from the agents after illegally entering the United States from Mexico in a van filled with nearly 800 pounds of marijuana. Ramos said he shot at the smuggler when he saw a gun pointed at him during the foot chase along the Rio Grande River.

During the trial in the spring, the Texas U.S. Attorney's Office also accused the agents of violating several administrative procedures, including the pursuit of a drug smuggler without supervisory permission."

What do you think?

Yars, that is interesting. However, the Senate knows we are watching. Their vote, but their political graves, too.

I am in favor of giving these men and women working border patrol all the muscle and/or freedom they need to due their jobs. Too bad some of those supervisors don’t have to stand before the public and explain their actions.

right here is the justice : Ramos and Compean are serving 11 and 12 years respectively. Now, it looks Davila will head to penitentiary himself -- for between six and ten years. if u pay interest it easily says 11 and 12 years so u would bypass forward and ask in those given years and that i will tell u : out interior the streets by potential of then , till they don't stay to tell the story it ! .

While the chance of this passing the Senate is most likely "iffey"...I can only hope they have heard America Roar.

This single issue, has created a massive wave of anger in Americans...so if the Senate does not pass this and works against the best interest of America...they are truly fashioning their own noose.

We need to support Hazelton, Pennsylvania with our letters and our checks. We need to insist that our own towns and communities adopt a similar law....

We need to increase our energy and resolve and not relax...not even for a moment.

If it has to pass the Senate it will die.

Like the woman that realized she gave up so much of herself that she no longer has an identity, so has America given up so much of herself that now she fights like hell that have no fury to reaffirm her existence. Right now we're working within the law, but when that breaks down, that's when other means will be used to protect ourselves. And that's why according to FEMA that protecting the constitution is considered by them to be terrorism - because people believe in a promise that has worked for so long.
