My friend is a legal resident here. She was born in Mexico and hasn't fully attained citizenship yet. A couple months ago she told me that she was pissed when the marchers carried a Mexican flag and burnt the American one. She thought it was a better idea when they carried both flags together. She said she would die for this country and she knows her family would too. That she is grateful for every thing this country has given her and was afraid that even though she has been here for almost her whole life (she is 26) and she has a green card That she might get deported. Not all Mexicans hate America and are using this country to send money back to Mexico break our laws abuse us then leave. So why do people put them all in the same boat?

I agree with your friend, if I were protesting anything, I would have the American flag or lots of them at the head of the parade. Hard for patriots to be pissed at flag wavers. Burning the flag promotes hate.
They lump them together because there are people who want all immigrants to be viewed the same - whether they are here legally or not. They also want those who are here legally to be afraid so they will support the cause. Those here legally had to go to some trouble to get here (and stay) so they might not otherwise support illegals. And having the support of those here legally as part of the movement makes the illegals look better.

Um, if you're an american citizen, you're not a mexican anymore.
That's how the whole citizenship thing works. You leave one country, and take up residence and apply to be a citizen in another one. Once you become a citizen of the United States, you're not a Mexican citizen anymore.
My issue is with illegal immigration, not those at least trying to legitimately comply with the law. Your friend may be legal, but there's somewhere between 12 and 20 million people that are in the United States illegally, and they need to leave. That's what the whole thing is about, and it's not even anti-hispanic, because the illegal aliens come from as many places as there are countries. The bottom line is, every year somewhere between 1/2 million and a million illegal immigrants are coming to our country. It's not good. Your friend sounds like she 'gets it', hopefully she opposes illegal immigration, too.

I have never put illegals and legals in the same category,just as I have never said or implied that all Mexicans were disloyal to their adopted country.I know many people from Mexico that are now die hard Americans in every way,and yet they still are able to hold on to their heritage.That's what assimilation is all about,its taking the best of the new while keeping the best of the old.You don't have to do one or the other .You can do both.My best regards to your friend and tell her she has nothing to worry about as to being deported.Shes not illegal and her green card is her prof. Good luck to her .
As for illegals ,take note she has done it the right way ,so you can to.Stop coming here illegally ,get your papers and join American ,don't hurt your chances of never being legal because you are impatient or too lazy.

well if you're here illegally you are breaking the law. you are a criminal and deserve to be thrown out. if you're a legal resident who has american culture and doesnt go waving a mexican flag all around in our country i dont have a problem with you.

There is stereotyping of every race by some, the issue Americans are fed up with is illegal immigrants, not necessarily" just" Mexicans. Your friend sounds like a good person, from a good family. How do you stand on the issue?

Tell your friend not to worry, as some people will paint u with the same brush, more educated ones will not....and it goes the same with muslims here in the united states. with all the terrorism plots and terrorism that they hav carried out, u cant blame people to think that they are all like that but, each individuals have their own ideals and belief, all we hav to do is respect them. and when we say people, we think of majority, without doing our own research to actually find out....like interview x amount of people and see the percentage of them who actually believe that....they just generalize group of people...as they exist.

I've read a number of comments by people who are anti-illegals. They all sound like rabid idiots. I have no opinions of my own on the subject because I haven't looked into it very deeply. But for now, I am pro-illegals just because I'm so offended by the stupidity of the antis.
