Illegal immigrants rarely if ever wash their hands after using the toilet. Additionally, most of them suffer functional illiteracy. They do not practice personal hygiene or health habits most Americans assume as a normal aspect of living.

sounds like BS to me, very out-there stereotyping...what do you think?

According to a recent article (October 2006 issue of Reader's Digest) 1/3 of housholds headed by an illegal immigrant are on some form of welfare. There is an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the United states. Since we don't have a way of knowing how many of those 11 million per household, we can not say how many of them are actualy on welfare. Welfare our tax dollars pay for to support people who broke the law to even be here. Benefits they are receiving, which they do not pay into.

Question: How do you feel about this?

I'm confused... when did it become socially acceptable to aid in a criminal act? I see legal citizens going down to the border and giving water and food, shoes and whatever else to those that are trying to "hop the fence." I'm not saying that these illegals should die, but if they are attempting an illegal act then they know that there will be consequences.

Now don't call me a racist, because I'm not. I'm all for hispanics/mexicans/latinos coming into this country in want for a better life for their families and for better opportunities. I've been coworkers and am friends with many and I can say they have great work ethics and wonderful family values. They have come to this country legally though and understand what it is to be part of this country, and in that have gained my respect.

If we give a gun to someone that we know has the intention of using that gun to commit murder, are we not aiding in the crime? What is the difference with helping illegals cross the border?

"Denver police confirmed Thursday they arrested Rubi-Nava on a traffic charge in April but released him.

Police spokeswoman Virginia Quinones said the arresting officer suspected Rubi-Nava's identification may have been forged, but she said the department was not responsible for verifying a suspect's immigration status, and a new Colorado law directing police to cooperate with federal immigration officers was not yet in force. "

Also, 4 of the 9/11 aircraft crew had been stopped for traffic violations when they had expired visas - one while on his way to meet his compatriots for the actual sky jacking (the ticket was found in the glove compartment of the rental car on 9/11). I think that local enforcement is overdue.

This is totally aside from what happens to screened people here. I think we are playing games with ourselves if we are setting up expensive proceedures to stop illegal immigration then are ignoring the most logical ways of enforcing law.

What do you think?

Here's an idea:

If we were to deport all the ILLEGAL aliens here, that might free up millions of spots for the LEGAL immigrants who want to come here and become good law-abiding American citizens.

Just prior to the French Revolution, Queen Marie Antoinette famously asked why the poor were rioting. According to the story she was told "Because they have no bread"

To which she replied "Then let them eat cake!"

This showed how out of touch she was with the realities of life of the populace, who of course were less likely to have cake, a luxury, than bread.

When the politicians say 'these are jobs Americans won't do', are they just demonstrating how out of touch they are with what Americans do daily to earn a living?

And isn't that a problem in and of itself?

Everyone has heard the claim that Illegal Immigrants do jobs that Americans won't do. I say this statement doesn't make sense when jobless and homeless Americans sleep in our streets every night and stand in soup lines every day for their next meal, never accomplishing anything, never growing as a person with honor again.
Why not fill these jobs with these Welfare receipients expecting them to earn their Welfare check, therefore were not just handing out money, were actually getting a return on our investment and these people can restore some of their dignity and return to the workforce. It would actually be therapeutic for them to earn something wouldn't it?

Well, it IS Friday, so I'm taking a short break from the usual stuff ... this is interesting though:

U.S. statistics for the Year 1906 :

The average life expectancy in the U.S. was 47 years.
Only 14 percent of the homes in the U.S. had a bathtub.
Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
A three-minute call from Denver to New York City cost eleven dollars.
There were only 8,000 cars in the U.S., and only 144 miles of paved roads.
The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more heavily populated than California.
With a mere 1.4 million people, California was only the 21st most populous state in the Union.
The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!
The average wage in the U.S. was 22 cents per hour.
The average U.S. worker made between $200 and $400 per year

Undocumented workers are so essential to the food industry nationwide that the National Restaurant Association has made stopping the Sensenbrenner-King bill its top priority in Congress this year.

'We are equal people'

"We value the work done by our employees, documented or not," said John Gay, the group's chief of government affairs and public policy in Washington.

"It's not like they broke into the bank to rob it," said Gay. "They broke into the bank to sweep the floor."

The Sensenbrenner-King bill would increase fines against employers who hire illegal workers, in some cases by tens of thousands of dollars per violation. It would also classify as "alien smugglers" the groups - including employers, churches and charities - that knowingly and "with reckless disregard" hire or help the immigrants. Migrants would be subject to criminal prosecution.

The restaurant association and most immigrant advocates back alternative legislation, drafted by Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) and Sen. Edward Kennedy (D., Mass.), that ultimately would allow undocumented immigrants to become legal residents.

If Congress were talking about excusing the crimes of millions of people who break into homes and steal, or millions of rapists, or even millions of street muggers, this country would revolt. So why is it we are sitting silently by while Congress debates offering free rides to millions of criminals who are in this country illegally?

We are a nation of laws and justice. It is not JUSTICE to forgive criminals for their crimes. It is justice to apprehend them, and punish them. Otherwise, we might as well just empty the prisons right now.

Can my wife take our son to mexico without my permission? She threatens me with this if we were to split up. Instead of going to court for custody she says she will just move back to mexico and if i want to see my son I can fly there to visit. I want to go the legal route with this but not sure what to do if she decides to just take off. Things are really rocky bad between us right now and its headed for a divorce. How can I protect my son from being taken out of this country. He and I are legal citizens here she is not (yeah, I know i should have been more careful). Anyways my son is the most important thing here. Any advice would be helpfull.

House Passes H.R. 4844, the Federal Election Integrity Act
On Wednesday, September 20, 2006, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Federal Election Integrity Act of 2006 by a vote of 228-196. As the legislative session winds to a close, H.R. 4844 is another part of the House GOP national security strategy devised to show political support for securing the nation at its borders and now at the ballot box. H.R.4844 seeks to prevent fraud in the election process by requiring photo identification for voters in federal elections. All states will be mandated to check voters' photo identification by the November 2008 election. By November 2010, states will only be allowed to accept photo identification that was issued upon presenting proof of citizenship. Eligible voters who cannot pay for identification cards will be provided one by the state at no charge. Costs for such a mandate will be reimbursed by the federal government.

A recent NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showed 81% of those surveyed favored an ID requirement for voting. In another poll conducted by Rasmussen, 77% of likely voters across the country agree that displaying a photo ID should be required to cast a vote. A number of states have already acted to require voters to follow proof of citizenship. In Phoenix, Arizona, registration went up 15% after passing a referendum requiring voters to prove citizenship when registering to vote. These changes encourage citizens to vote and discourage illegal voting.

Congressman Vernon Ehlers (R-MI) said in a statement, "Every day millions of Americans show a picture ID to pay by check, board a plane, or buy alcohol or tobacco. Surely, the sanctity of the ballot warrants as much protection as these activities. Requiring people to show an ID to prove their citizenship and eligibility will protect the vote, and help restore confidence

Please read this article on Yahoo news this morning:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060922/ap_on_he_me/tuberculosis_risk

Reading this article, it says that this man ran out of money in Cambodia and couldn't afford any more of his TB treatment. Hmmm, but he can afford to take a holiday to visit his family in the US? Is it just my suspicious mind or do others think maybe this was a purposeful plan for him to come to the US and get his TB treatment paid for by the taxpayers of the US?

Projects a $61.5 Billion a Year Local Price Tag by 2010
Washington, D.C.—If an illegal alien amnesty and guest worker program similar to the one being contemplated by the United States Senate and supported by President Bush were enacted, the cost burden to state and local governments would be staggering, projects an analysis by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). FAIR estimates that state and local costs associated with illegal immigration for public education, health care and incarceration, now about $36 billion a year, would balloon to $61.5 billion by 2010 a 70 percent increase and increase to $106.3 billion by 2020.

As a result of an amnesty and a vastly expanded guest worker program, millions of current illegal aliens would gain legal access to government programs and services. Moreover, newly legalized aliens would be allowed to bring their dependents to this country, adding to the burdens on schools and public health care.
