Everyone has heard the claim that Illegal Immigrants do jobs that Americans won't do. I say this statement doesn't make sense when jobless and homeless Americans sleep in our streets every night and stand in soup lines every day for their next meal, never accomplishing anything, never growing as a person with honor again.
Why not fill these jobs with these Welfare receipients expecting them to earn their Welfare check, therefore were not just handing out money, were actually getting a return on our investment and these people can restore some of their dignity and return to the workforce. It would actually be therapeutic for them to earn something wouldn't it?

I propose that even the laziest drug addict will work if it meant the difference of eating their next meal or not.
This is where Political Correctness has brought us....

The problem is, most of them do not want to work, they want to lay on their backs, pop out a couple kids and get that check every month. I think they should be cut off and forced to work.

First ,have you, yourself or anyone that you know ever been in the welfare system? Probably not. They don't just hand out money to people. The money that is given is set up electronically so that it can only be spent on food. They do make you work, you have to find a job . However they are crummy jobs that still don't make ends meet. People who are on welfare are made to look for jobs and cannot quit jobs . If they don't look for or keep jobs they lose all of the money.People on welfare are given preference for jobs over everyone else.Welfare does have a time limit about 5 years. Not all immigrants are on welfare , not all people on welfare are immigrants. You can't generalize. They are however poor for whatever reason low income or disability things like cancer. You should be thankful for what you have and not make comments about things you know nothing about.

Problem is your are not offering any incentive for them to get off welfare. Minimum wage was not intended for people to live on in the long term. It is merely a starting point. Some type of skills training should be included, life time cap on benefits, and better case management. I personally hate welfare and if it must be used, only for the shortest time necessary.

After Americans get off of unemployment they are no longer counted. Since illegals are taking many of the jobs that Americans used to do it looks like our employment is up and they don't have to pay taxes out of their pay. Our rural school is educating 47 Spanish speaking and our chicken plants hire illegals and that's just in one small rural town.
Just look at the answer of veronica s. They think they have the right to come to this country illegally and take everything they can.

I believe it would work, even at minimum wage. Being legal USA citizens would make their receiving welfare as a supplement easier for me as a tax payer to accept. I DO NOT appreciate paying taxes for welfare to supplement the low wages illegals earn. THEY are not who welfare was suppose to be FOR.

I had a neice who was on welfare and she worked a low paying job and was also given some food stamps and subsidized housing. She worked that low wage job until she found a better paying job and got OFF welfare. She did not continue to have multiple babies to stay on it. She did not make living on welfare her career or permanent source of income.

Mainly, she was 'enititled' to that assistance because:

1) she was a CITIZEN of the USA.
2) she had worked previously for several years, paying into the system she later had to get help from
3) She qualified (small child, job loss through not fault of her own)
4)Worked at what she could find until she got a better paying job.
5)Generations of her family had also paid into that system who did not take advantage of it. SHE had every RIGHT to get that assistance.

NO Illegal invader into the USA has that right!!

I think it goes both ways. There are some people out there who would rather depend on their welfare benefits than work, and others who would take the jobs that the government claims "Americans don't want". But I think these jobs should not go to illegals, they should go to Americans who want and need to work.

Because, some of THEM don't WANT to work.

We have one of those around here. Been here since January. He stands on the exit ramp of the highway, asking for money.

At first, his sign claimed he was a Katrina victim. People gave him money, and offered him food and jobs. He took the money and the food.

Then, his sign claimed he was living in the woods. People gave him money and offered him food and jobs. He took the food and money.

He is STILL there, he is STILL asking for money, and still refuses to take any job offers.

SOME are just POINT BLANK lazy.

unless you are or have been an illegal immigrant you should not speak, statistically theres more americans on state aid than illegal immigrants and yes in most cases they do , do and are willing to do the jobs that most others will not, to feed their families and still whether it be with legal or illegal paper pay taxes like you and me , they will stand on corners sellling what ever they can ,not holding signs claiming to be veterans and panhandling for change, most homeless are not there because illegals took their jobs they are there because they are addicted to drugs or alcohol and have been in and out of rehabs paid for by our taxes and no one complains . take a good look when you surpass a homeless person , most are anglo or black and unless you are physically gonna go out to help someone don't speak of things you know nothing of

Who could have guessed this question got here from a conservative. Why do you enable boastful " intellectuals ", generally purely of their very own minds, hardship you. Rush limbaugh as quickly as stated all people that disagrees with the conflict in Iraq isn't sensible adequate to discus it. i be attentive to somewhat some those that think of they are very sensible, yet have not any uncomplicated sense in any respect.
