Please read this article on Yahoo news this morning:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060922/ap_on_he_me/tuberculosis_risk

Reading this article, it says that this man ran out of money in Cambodia and couldn't afford any more of his TB treatment. Hmmm, but he can afford to take a holiday to visit his family in the US? Is it just my suspicious mind or do others think maybe this was a purposeful plan for him to come to the US and get his TB treatment paid for by the taxpayers of the US?

Daisy, Ignore the illegal alien from Europe who let her Visa run out, she is something I will not mention on this forum, I would be lowering myself to her level.

I agree with what you are saying. TB is an increasing problem in our hospitals today. We need to screen all immigrants for this reason. Great Article and you got many great responses.. Cheers.

This is sad.
But I can't say if I needed Medical or anyone else that it would be wrong to try all outlets to get it. We don't want more people getting it anywhere. I wish I had a better answer to this problem--we don't want to hurt people here-they have a right to be protected too.
There is a case I read about where they (an illegal alien) are refusing treatment and that is scary to me. They don't believe in the Medicine offered. If this were not a contagious disease-I might agree-but it is and she is putting people in danger. I rather see her take the Meds.
There has been other disease brought in--it is not a good thing.
I wish they would focus on the problems that are being caused--screening and isolation is important to all and cases like this show it.
And of course you are right-how many hospitals will close if this continues-than many will not get help they need. And some might need emergency help (heart or breathing or such) with nowhere close to go.

Someone is very wrong who answered you--no surprise there--people like that are part of the problem.

Always nice to see your posts.

There are also 7000 new cases of an almost forgotten
disease of Leprosy a horrific condition that was eradicated in the country long ago.TB is rampant in all 3rd world country's and is an air born very contagious disease.
Because illegals are not tested for any thing because of their illegal status, many "old' previously though beaten by modern medicine here in this country,ie polio.measles,TB,and the dreaded leprosy have again reared their ugly dangerous heads
Legal immigrants go thru a lengthy medical exam to determine if they have any contagious diseases, thus protecting the public. But illegals circumvent that by their illegal status. The endangerment of the people from the illegals is only another cost to the legal American.

Again bunts only defense is to insult the poster .You never offer any thing excepts cheap insults and name calling.

The problem with a lot of these countries is that they don't have the medicine there to begin with. So the person has to go to another country just for treatment.

Who let this guy in?!!!!? Cambodians need a visa to come here, because their overstay risk is higher. To get a visa, you need a health screening for increasingly common(and very contagious) diseases like TB. Who the heck dropped the ball?

Don't be such a Jerk Bunt!
Other countries wouldn't let us in if we were visibly sick.(trust me, My M.I.L had the flu when she tried to visit family in Canada. They pulled her out of the line and it took a hell of a time to convince them to let her go through.)
Why should we let someone come into our country if they carry something visibly contagious. Especially when diseases like bird flu are flying around!

Now perhaps he really just wanted to see his family but it does sound rather suspicious to me.

From 1965 to 1973 the United States dropped 2.7 million tons of ordinance on Cambodia, killing approximately 300,000 to 500,000 innocent civilians. I don't think one effing TB patient is to much to ask.

SCARY, isn't it??!!! And they way that T.B. is trasnmitted,is through droplets!!! So, if anyone with T.B.sneezes,or coughs on you, they spread the disease to YOU and anyone else around them!!!!
And this is NOT the only disease they expose us to either!!!! There are MANY that we do not have cures for!!!

Why don't they build hospitals in other countries? Are we the only ones with a can of white paint, and bricks? This is unreal...
