First, get out of the country, any way you can.

Because, if you denounce your citizenship while here, your word and your documents will be worth crap. You want to be a martyr, then do so at a press conference in Washington or New York. But what are you going to do then? Try getting a decent job. Try getting out of the country. You'll be due for more limbo then you never dreamed. Ever read "Man without a country"?

So, what are your motivations, young fellow man or woman?

You can't "denounce" it.
You can renounce your citizenship by moving to another country, paying the country;'s immigration fee, getting a job, paying their exorbitant taxes, and spend the rest of your life missing the best thing you ever gave up.
You idiot!

If you are outside the USA you must go to a US Embassy and renounce it there. I do not know the procedure if you are inside the USA or if it is even possible if you are within our borders.

If you are thinking about doing this, think twice. This is probably a bridge you do not want to burn, as you are very unlikely to be allowed re-entry into the USA ever again.

by moving to another country and living there long enough to take its citizenship instead. don't make yourself stateless, it sucks bull's genitals. btw - why would you want to renounce one of the most coveted citizenships on earth? i see why you'd have issues with your citizenship right now, but having us or eu citizenship is the best thing that can happen to anyone, so keep it!

Check your local US Embassy or Government office and ask them.

Also, to those suggesting moving to another country and gaining citizenship there. First, make sure that country doesn't allow dual citizenship. Some countries do.

By saying you denounce it. If you mean RE-nounce a simple way would be to immigrate to another nation and becoming a citizen there.

Try looking up "renounce" rather than "denounce." There's sure to be info on the web, google, etc.
