Arguably, the state constitutional ban against gay marriage and couple's entitlements means that gay couples don't have access to the same public benefits as heterosexual couples, despite paying taxes which support these benefit packages.

At what point can gay couples argue they are being taxed to pay for services they can't access.

At what point can gay couples argue that state officials and representatives are condoning taxation without compensation or representation.

Can Congress stop the war?
Lawmakers have the constitutional authority. What they may not have, however, is the will.
By Jonathan Turley

Over the next week, Congress will vote on a non-binding resolution denouncing President Bush's decision to send more troops to Iraq. Many people have already noted that with thousands of dead soldiers and hundreds of billions of dollars lost, Congress might be able to manage more than a legislative "Dear John" letter. Yet, if you listen to the president and some Democratic leaders, Congress can do little to stop the hemorrhaging of lives and treasure.

The democratic peace theory states that democratic nations never go to war with each other. A number of political leaders, scientists, and even our president have espoused this notion. This supposedly also applies to oligarchies as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_peace_theory . Therefore it is implied that if all nations in the world were democratic there would be no wars. When is a nation considered democratic? Does the advance of democracy lead to a more stable world? Why or why not?

Or, is Texas Gov. Rick Perry doing the right thing by requiring schoolgirls as young as 11 to be vaccintated against the sexually transmitted disease?

And what does this mean for his conservative Christan support base, that don't want the government imposing its will on the indivdual?

And did Perry sell out to Merck lobbists for money?

FYI -

So how would you help fix the governement?

1. Stop any form of welfare. Only the strong survive people have been abusing this system since its existence.
2. Lower Taxes.
3. Taxes can be lowered by privitizing government activities so that they are much more efficient....so privitization
4. Get rid of NAFTA. (I like cheap prices, but if that means illegal mexicans and the end of the middle class then I don't mind paying a few extra bucks)
5. Legalize gambling! Other governments have done this and it hasn't "supported terrorism" The governement would make billions of dollars off of this.
