Inappropriate and dangerous? By whose standards?
It should not be the government's place to "allow" or "disallow" people's choice of a home on their own private property.

Well I don't think the government should decide what type of dwellings people are allowed to live in. Sometimes people can only afford these type of dwellings. I think what is more important is for people to think twice before buying such a dwelling in areas with destructive weather such as Florida.

Your question sounds really snobby. I assume that you've never been in a mobile home and don't know anyone that lives in one. They are inexpensive and not nearly as dangerous as they used to be. Thousands were used to house victims of the hurricanes. In our area in Michigan, they provide very suitable housing for low income people. Where else can you find a home for under 30 grand. In Florida, they provide great homes (some pretty well decked out) for retirees on fixed incomes.
A better question is: why are six bedroom homes on 3 acres allowed when so many people are homeless, farm land is being turned into suburbs, and the environment is in the pot. Do you know how much it costs and how much damage there is to the environment to provide heating/cooling, water, and electricity for one of those ugly "executive" homes?

Who said mobile homes are dangerous nad inappropriate? For whom?
Some people cannot afford to live in 5 bedroom, 4 baths houses on 5 acres. Many people can barely afford rent in a bug-infested apartment. People do what they can do with what they have. It's not good or bad, right or wrong; it simply is.
There are hundreds of thousands of homeless people in the US, and many are homeless because they cannot earn a decent wage to live in any type of dwelling. When people have the choice between medications to stay alive and a roof over their head, many choose to live.
It's not your position to judge. If you're concerned, do something about improving the lifestyle of people by starting a business and paying a living wage. Volunteer at shelters and other places. It's up to YOU.

You've got to be kidding, I didn't think there were any despots with that attitude toward the poor and disadvantaged left... Best answer to that question may be dirived from all the Katrina homeless that are now living in mobile homes. The only option to most "inapropriate Mobile homes" is to pay room rent to a ghetto slumlord and share the bath. Does your mother know about this question? (I hope she lives in a mobile home...).

Mainly because we are FREE to CHOOSE where we want to live. It isn't any of your business if I choose to live in a box, a mobile home, or a mansion. As the buyer, I understand the risks inherent in each dwelling and that is my concern.
