Depends on how you define "large" and "industrialized".
Considering Medicare and Medicaid are bankrupting the country, and the Social Security Ponzi scheme will eventually run out of money, Universal Health Care is probably not the best idea in the world.
Utopia doesn't exist and history has demonstrated over and over and over and over and over and over again that the more a society becomes socialistic, the less viable it becomes from an economic standpoint.
So I would rather not have UHC and instead have a thriving growing economy which will allow almost all who are willing to endeavor to have good health care and sound financial futures.

I am pretty sure that is true. I would hate to admit we are the last large nation without universal health care. As an American that suffers from a chronic illness and has no insurance or government assistance (Not for a lack of trying... no one will help me) I am bitter on this subject. I have be denied several times for government help... one lady told me to get pregnant then I could get some medicade. This just makes me sick and angry that millions of americans suffer from illnesses that could have been prevented or treated if they had available health care early on.

yes its correct, the politicians have too much to gain by not letting us get universal health care, the insurance companies line the politicians pockets with money to not let any bills pass through congress that establish universal health care, so this is why we cant have a normal healthcare system, my parents pay 1,800 dollars per month for insurance, and then have to pay copays and high perscriptions just because of our greedy government , look at it like this our government is suppossed to be a democracy, but we have no say, the people have spoken as to what we want, but the politicians promise you the world and deliver nothing and the worst of all is our president!!

Yes,but the medical industry in this country is so complex and the medical business rakes in big bucks, to give free health care would put many people in this field out of work.It could work if they made a lot of changes in other spending.Like wars, and feeding half the world. But that is also big money, and big money is what it seems to be all about. The little people mean squat anymore, which is sad.

Yes....and we as americans have to decide what we want.....There are so many people that want lest gov...less gov....less gov....and then b*tch when the government won't take care of every little thing we need.......With the freedom we have comes other things....like taking responsibilty for ourselves....I do think that some legislations needs to be passed to keep health care reasonable.....but I don't think the gov. should have to provide it for us....that just means more taxes...and then people would just complain about that.....so do you want freedom w/ more personal responsibility....or less freedom and more gov that will just "dig into our personal lives" even more if they get to control health care.

No. We were one of the 4 out of the 173 countries examined.
I think that puts things into a much better perspective.
