Elections - June 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Elections

Or are we gonna have to chose sides again in the next election? Personally, I think that our greatest leaders in history have come from both sides of the aisle, and drew support from a very sizable majority of the country. Some examples include FDR, Reagan, Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, and Washington.

After the last few years, can we all agree that we need someone that will unite us and bring back our respect from the world? If there is a person who can do this, who is it?

This is a presidential candidates question. What about the general public.
Please keep the answer short. No philosophical studies on which God is better or whether He/She/It exists or not.

He is a mini-McCain, yet everyone seems to think that he is the conservative savior. It appalls me that people will trash McCain one minute and fall in love with Thompson the next.

Neither one is my first choice, but I would be ok with either getting the nomination. There just seems to be way to much blind following on this. Because Thompson is from the South, has a southern drawl, and is older and an actor like Reagan was, we are supposed to think that he is a "true" conservative. Don't believe the hype.

What are your thoughts?

Rudy Giuliani was a 9/11 Failure
by davefromqueens
Fri Feb 23, 2007 at 09:15:17 AM PDT
It's September 10th, 2001. Rudy Giuliani is so unpopular in New York that he couldn't be elected dogcatcher. Having raised middle class taxes/fees, presided over the continued decline of one of the worst public school systems in America, worsened the state of health care in NYC, and doled out corporate welfare to his fat cat buddies, Giuliani was mostly a failure as Mayor. (As have most mayors of both parties been.) Sure crime fell (but it did nationwide and NYC was still safer in the 1960s than it was in 2000 so Giuliani's statistics are misleading) and Manhattan was cleaner (I'll give him that) but this is the same imbecile mayor who tried to close down a museum over a picture he personally disliked and who encouraged the kind of behavior that resulted in tragedies like Amadou Diallo and Abner Louima. Oh and I haven't even mentioned his

Did the Constitution's promise of no cruel or unusual punishment ever matter? Was it all just a bunch of empty words? Were the soldiers and sailors who fought to protect the Bill of Rights fools wasting their time for a people who never even cared about their Constitution? Or has America simply outrown the Bill of Rights now?

Women voted for Maggie Thatcher in their millions, not for her policies, but purely the fact that they shared a gender.a lot of people never recovered from Thatchers rule, and all because she was a woman.

I have no clue how this works, with the delegates and all. Who becomes delegates? Do you become a delegate? Do you directly vote for you candidate? Do you vote for your delegate? How do you know if your delegate will choose your candidate? Do you have to attend a convention or something? Can someone clue me in on how (and when) to vote in the Republican primaries in Fairfax, VA?

I am doubtful that he even has a chance in winning the election! Why is he running?

Just imaging the Mormons in the National Cathedral with all of their wives dressed in prairie clothes. But he really doesn't have a chance since every president back to George Washington have been Christians. I can't see us having a Black or gay president either.

Get over it! It's just the way it's been!

I'm not saying that I want him to run, but I realized why he hasn't announced his candidacy yet. He's running for the Nobel Prize! If he so much as hints that he's going to run, then the Nobel Prize Comittee won't choose him as the winner.

What do you think? Do think I'm right? I ask you please to stay on topic and NOT say anything AGAINST him or FOR him, because political views have very little to with the question I asked.
