This is the process to run for office in the State of Tennessee. The guidelines vary for state of state.

Go to the election office and pick up a petition to run for Mayor. (In most cases you will need to have 25 people sign your petiton - they must be registered voters and live inside the city you are running in ) You will also need to file an Appointment of Political Treasurer (this needs to be done before you spend any money on your campaign) with the election office and file a Political Statement of Interest with the Ethics Commission.

If you can go from door to door in a variety of communities throughout you city and talk to average citizens, get positive responses with agreement and encouragement, then go to city hall and inquire about your local procedures.
It you can't get anyone to agree with your ideas, plans and principles, forget it!
