This is a presidential candidates question. What about the general public.
Please keep the answer short. No philosophical studies on which God is better or whether He/She/It exists or not.

Yes, of course He does. All things according to His will (notice His will...not ours).

On some level, each side always believes that this is true. But why would an all good and all-knowing God, who regularly intervened in human affairs, even allow war. It's easy to say that God works in mysterious ways, and that explains just about everything at the same time that it explains absolutely nothing.

Assume that God is on the side of the US in the Iraq war. If that was true, then why has the war dragged on so long, and why does it appear that the United States is losing. There is no answer to these questions. Iraqis pray five times a day to God. What possible reason could God have for ignoring their prayers for peace or victory against the US. He can't have a reason.

It's much more understandable, and it's more accurate from a predictive standpoint, to explain hostilites in secular terms and to think of war as a battle between states or groups of people. A state or a tribe can be conquered, but a religion can never be vanquished.

There HAS to be an exist or not portion to the answer to answer your question.

Do you believe a god could allow wars to go on?

I don't believe there is a god as you conceive the concept.

If there were such a god as you talk about, is this the same god that coaches of different football teams pray to for a win? This just seems to be selfish expressions of personal wishes ......as wars are just selfish expressions of what the ruling elite of each country want for themselves.

Wars suck.

God only takes sides in one war and that is the war between good and evil, the war for your soul. Human wars are just proof that we have our agency, people choose to kill other people. It is our duty to forgive those that do us wrong. Yes I was angered by the attacks of September 11th, I also believe that Saddam should have been removed from power and that what we are doing in Iraq is the right thing to do because Saddam was an evil man who killed many people and the Iraqi people are happy to have help getting their freedom despite what the media tells you.

What would be the point of God taking sides in a war? This is to say if there is a God.

I don't think so. I think God is grieved when we kill people one way or another. We like all too much to claim that God is on "our side" because we are somehow good and the opposition is evil. I disagree wholeheartedly with that mindset, and think that God just shakes his head when we go to war in his name.

I think that God sits in heaven and just shakes his head at the stupidity of war. I think that a lot of people that use religion as a reason for war will have to face him and he will say "You did what in MY name" Hard to answer that.

Yes. Sometimes ( the Arab-Israeli wars og 1948, 1956, 1967 & 1973) there is no other way to explain the outcome.

No he doesn't take sides. War is of man, not of God.

GOD loves all of his children. Even the ones who believe that he doesn't even exist.

the book of Exodus clearly shows God taking the side of the Israelites at war. I believe God does take sides and that his side always wins. I think God uses war to chage the world and establish new governments.

Well I personally don't think so he might be neutral.and there is a god if you have read the bible it says god gave us free will to praise and do to wich we want and when Adam and Eve sinned it says sin entered the world. that's why these atrocities happen.
