Elections - June 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Elections

I remeber seeing a lot of gloating here just after the elections.

The current 14% confidence rating for Congress is down from 19% last year and is the lowest in Gallup’s history, surpassing the 18% confidence in Congress measured in 1991, 1993 and 1994.

out of the choices presented to us...both dem or republican
who would you choose? why? I dont think any of the people who are currently running are going to lead us in the direction this country needs to go .... I believe they are just gonna give us alot more of the same and lead us to our doom..
my opinion doesnt matter...one voice doesnt mean squat...but if the majority shouts ENOUGH!...mabey finaly something will change..

It's the lowest it has been in ten years. Even lower than Bush's ratings are now.
Can anyone explain how the supposed super human hero's of the Democratic party have fallen so short in their graces?
I really, really want a straight answer. Not rhetoric or name calling. Just a viable realistic answer.

Or which republican candidate will destroy america first, Romney or Giuliani? or both? looks like we're headed for another joke of an election where we are given a choice between satan and lucifer. Or you can vote for real change?

Simple enough question. Now I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I enjoy some light research into it. It often can be funny.

yesterday and stated something like " if it was white women between 25 - 35 there would be an uproar" while talking to the black voters. Now , as I see it , that is pandering for the black vote. She is also insulting the white women voters. So, she is already showing just how 2 faced she really is. Would any white women between 25 - 35 vote for her now?

according to Harry Reed , he said that the great minds in washington put together the immigration bill. Now that we no, what kind of minds there are in washington, maybe next election time, we would remember who voted for the bill, then we could vote against those senators that voted for it. I believe that washington is so out of touch with the voters. or they dont care about us, Im not saying its anyone party its all of them, now we no who is for the voters and who is against the voters.

I am a Libertarian and am a strong supporter of Gay Rights and Women's right's to choose. I am strong supporter of small government, low taxes and civil liberties and indivual freedom for everybody which is a very typical Libertrarian perspective.

Ron Paul is Pro-Life and against Gay Rights. After reading his record he sounds more Republican.

Are there Libertarians out there who even though understand people's enaliable right's still vote against people's right's?

I saw the most recent South Carolina poll and Fred Thompson has pulled ahead of Rudy Giuliani by 25% to 22%. All the other Republicans have less than 10%. Thompson seems to appeal to conservatives more than any of the other candidates.

Who do you feel would be a better candidate for President: Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. I used to be 100% for Hillary, but I have watched some footage of Obama's "Take Back America 2007" speech, and I admit that I was swayed somewhat. Both have stances that I agree with, and both have a few that I disagree with. Hillary has much more experience, but Barack seems much more personable, and he seems to have good ideas. I AM TORN!

Talk about pandering to an audience.

And who exactly is dividing this country?

Black voters are a large and critical part of the Democratic primary electorate, making the debate a must-attend for candidates seeking the party's presidential nomination. Civil rights activist Al Sharpton and Princeton University scholar Cornel West were among those in the audience.

Segregation was not the only issue. In turn, the candidates discussed their hopes to stem poverty, improve the economy and end the war in Iraq.

"This issue of poverty is the cause of my life," said John Edwards, the 2004 vice presidential nominee.

Said Obama: "It starts with birth."

A half century of desegregation law — and racial tension — was laid bare for the Democrats hours before they met. In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court clamped historic new limits on school desegregation plans.
