The influence that Television has on AMericans is just plain scary, it is like an opiate, they are addicted and they believe whatever comes out of the speakers.
I am not certain that the media can pick a President, and if that were the case Bush would not have won a second term because the media were certainly against him.
The media has assaulted American values, our religions and personal responsibility. I believe it is part of an effort to destroy our Western culture opening the door for a socialist revolution.
64 percent of Americans agree the media are an important factor in shaping moral values in this country.
68 percent of Americans say the media have a negative impact on moral values in this country.
73 percent of Americans say the entertainment industry is having a negative impact on moral values in this country.
The media are undermining America’s sense of personal responsibility. The more a person watches television, the less likely he will be to accept responsibility for his own life and for his obligations to the people around him.
Acceptance of responsibility to provide for his own needs. 64 percent of heavy TV viewers believe the government should be responsible for providing retirement benefits to Americans, compared to only 43 percent of light TV viewers. 63 percent of heavy TV viewers prefer government health care to private health care, compared to only 43 percent of light TV viewers.
So do yourself a favor, turn off the tube, it is bad for you and bad for AMerica.

A majority - not really. Most people like one party or the other and will always vote for the party of their choice. But they influence a lot, and enough to swing quite a few elections. It's beyond doubt that their lies about Gore are why Bush is President today.
You hear a lot of bulls**t about the media being liberal. In fact, the media tends to prefer moderate Republicans. Look at how many of the most lionized public figures meet this general description: Laura Bush, Colin Powell, Chuck Hagel, Condi Rice, John McCain. McCain in 2000 got the softest coverage of any serious candidate of the last 40 years. But the media has turned on him to some degree, and the favorite candidate for this election seems to be Giuliani.

Media has ALWAYS influenced voters. I cannot recall the election but it was way early and one candidate printed in ta newspaper that the other candidate had a Thespian for a sister - due to the lack of education at the time many people thought this was a very negative thing and voted against the guy.

The majority of the media is liberal and does not admit and tries to act like there is never a bias in any news story. Their votes are so to the left that they are more in line with Democratic primary voters then the Democratic public in the general election. Their constant attacks on the president, republicans, and conservatives is pushing more voters either liberal or Conservative since that is where the media wants it more controversy at the fringes not moderates

Yes. To a great extent. If the media slobbers all over a candidate, the candidate will poll higher and get more votes. If the media constantly does hatchet jobs on a candidate, he or she will lose favor with the public.
Happens all the time.

Maybe to some extent...but only for people who are too lazy to research the candidates themselves and find out what they stand for. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people like that. I don't care who other people vote for as long as they have a valid reason

Most American lives are totally influenced by what they see on TV.
It does the thinking for them.
