Thompson appeals to conservatives because he is a tried and true conservative. However once this guy jumps in he will be scrutinized more. Then the rest of America will find out what he is all about. Right now people think his character on Law and Order is who he is. He is the ultimate insider, has been a lobbyist, and a Senator. I personally see him as flawed candidate, but no more than anyone else in the race.

I think he has a pretty good chance. We still don't know a lot about him though. Right now he is polling on name recognition and the fact that he is the new guy in the race. For the GOP Nomination it is a 3 horse race between Giuliani, Fred, and Romney. Ultimately I think Romney will come out on top in a really hard and close race.
If Thompson wins the nomination I think he could beat Hillary and Obama, but would struggle against Edwards or Richardson.

Fred can easily win the Republican nomination. The trouble is, that's as far as he'll go. No Republican is going to win the general election unless he parts ways with Bush on the War. And Thompson is not going to do that, so he'll go down in defeat.

At this point in the elections anyone could win. Fred Thompson would make an excellent choice as the next President of the United States.
The two worst choices are comrade billary and obamama

Yes, and a very good one!
Giuliani is being exposed as the phony RINO that he is, and Fred Thompson will pick up the support of many of Rudy's former supporters.

I was dead set on voting for the top Dem this for this term but after reading up on Thompson and listening to my wife speak of him back when he was in office in Tenn. I am starting to lean more towards his no nonsense style of politics. I believe he has a very strong chance of taking the Republican party by storm

I'd rather have him than any dem, but I don't think he has a realistic chance. He hasn't done much in his career, shown much leadership, or smoothly answered questions from the media. I just don't see this working out for him. He'd make a good vice president though.

Who was it that said, “Hope Springs eternal in the breast of man…” Oh Yeah! Old Al Pope.
I HOPE we, as a sleeping nation have awakened enough to get of our collective keesters and make sure that no Republican candidate is allowed to walk down the sidewalk outside the White House (without a guide who can read above the fifth grade level), let alone be elected to national office .
If all the Republicans can come up with is another mediocre wannabe “actor” then for god’s sake at least pick one with a modicum of character. Jaysus! Oh! I have it, I always thought Pluto the dog was good and knew his lines. I liked his voice too. Couldn’t you Repubs get behind Pluto or somebody less transparent that old Freddy, the lobbyist? Jaysus!
