We have to cut CO2 emissions by 25-40% over the next 10 years to significantly affect the projected path of climate change. The U.S. will not agree with the figures...what do you think? Will this influence your vote next year for President? It will mine.

The dirty secret behind Kyoto, the U.S. chose economic growth over reducing emissions - but so have many of the countries who actually signed on to the Kyoto treaty.

If the world fries because of climate change, they thunder, it will be America's fault. Or, more specifically, George W.'s, because he took the Kyoto Protocol out of the desk drawer where Bill Clinton had stashed it for several years, and definitively binned it.

Take a close squint at the numbers, and frankly it looks as if many of the countries that did sign Kyoto share Bush's concern that the economic pain might outweigh the green gain.

Look at those nice people north of the border: Canada agreed to cut emissions by 6 percent. Whoops. The country is running 24 percent ahead, a lot more than the United States, which is 15.8 percent above 1990 levels. Japan has the same 6 percent target, and is also missing big, by about 13 percent.

Okay, how about the 15 western European countries that were Kyoto's original members? Sorry, for the second year in a row, according to figures released in late June, emissions rose for the EU-15.

U.S. District Judge James Payne on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit challenging a new state law dealing with illegal immigration.

The National Coalition of Latino Clergy had filed a federal lawsuit against Gov. Brad Henry and Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson, seeking to overturn House Bill 1804, which became law on Nov. 1.

The suit alleges that the law is unconstitutional and violates rights to due process for undocumented immigrants, who are listed as "John Doe" or "Jane Doe" in the list of plaintiffs.Payne initially dismissed the suit in October because the plaintiffs could not show that the law had damaged them before it took effect. This time the judge granted the state's motion to dismiss because the plaintiffs named in the lawsuit didn't have standing to challenge the law."The court is again confronted with plaintiffs bringing a broad array of constitutional and statutory challenges to a similarly broad array of state statutes," Payne stated in the conclusion of an order filed Thursday. "Again, some plaintiffs ignore the need to describe the injuries actually caused by the challenged statutes, while the illegal alien plaintiffs complain of grievances that could best be remedied by simply compliance with federal law. Both categories of plaintiffs must be dismissed for lack of standing, either on constitutional or prudential grounds."http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?articleID=071213_1__USDis24770
Wow... The judge says that if illegal aliens had just followed federal law, they would not have a grievance in the first place. This man might just be the most intelligent person in government. I hope Judge Payne makes it to Supreme Court someday!

Seems from all these news shows i've seen.. that the terrorists they are fighting in the Middle east are really hard to beat cause they hide in caves and hide within the city with tricks like carbombs, sniper things ied's or whatever.

How about our own problems here? Would it be as hard as that or can they solve the problem here easier than the fight overthere in the middle east?

I wish someone could beat these gangsters that live in L.A or something. there's like thousands, i heard and they terrorize many neighborhoods.

Ok as I understand the definition: You can't be charged for the same crime twice? Yet this mother who killed the bf that broke up with her daughter was tried and convicted and later release on a technicality. The state wasn't able to try her on the crime again but the federal level was. But double jeapordy is a constitutional law which shouldn't let federal retry her for the crime. Just doesn't make sense. If the federal can try someone that was already tried in a state then what use is double jeapordy?

WWI we saved Europe from Germany.
WWII we saved Europe and the World from Nazism and The Japanese Empire.
Korean war we saved South Korea from the Communists.
Cold War we saved the world from the Soviet Union.

Through these wars the people supported the country.
Why in the Vietnam war was there so much protest against saving South Vietnam from Communist? We were not against saving South Korea. why Vietnam? And if "everyone" was against it why did it take 15 years to end it?? We were liberating Vietnam and now were liberating Iraq, why is that bad?

Serious question = Serious answer.

Thank you.

My friend is applying for a Secret Service position, however he/she has vision acuity of 20/80. SS only accepts 20/60 or better. I am trying to find reasonable accomodations that would allow he/she to be considered. He/She served in the military and used glasses the entire time. No one complained then. What should he/she do?

I would highly appreciate the answers, or a helpful site would be even better. These are not all the ones I am struggling with. They are not in the book and I had trouble googling them. Thanks!!

This is some of the info I need...
-city the supreme court first met in
-year they moved to Washington DC
-year they got their own building in Washington DC
-name of power to nullify laws that are unconstitutional
-what president was forced to hand over White House tapes and documents
-number of judicial districts, and court of appeals in the US

If you know any answers or sites I'd appreciate it SO much! :]
These are not all, just about 1/4 of the ones I still need for tomorrow.
