Is Oprah backing Obama simply because he is Black?

If he was White with the same agenda, would she back Hillary because she is a woman?

I hate to say it, but yes I do believe it was race motivated. Why has Oprah NEVER backed a Presidential candidate in the past? She has had power, a platform to present her views, so why now? It's just a coincidence that he happens to be black? I don't buy it.

Where was Oprah when Jesse Jackson ran for president? Or Allan Keyes? Oprah did not openly support and campaign for these black candidates. Obama is half black and half white. When people look at him, they only see the black half. People forget that his mother is white. If anything, Oprah is backing a candidate that is both black and white. What say you to that?

Oprah is behind Obama because she believes in his vision for changing America. She believes that he is the one who will finally fulfill the dream of MLK about uniting black and white American, blue state and red state America. Under Obama's leadership, America will finally reach its destination of becoming the land of the free and the home of the brave. Gender and skin color have nothing to do with it.

Hillary made the comment as a woman it is my duty to begin a new page in history and elect the first woman president. Isn't that a sell out?? What is the difference?? I am not certain at this time who will receive my vote but.... everything I have read about Obama is great. He has been honest from the beginning about his past and does not have a problem saying that he made mistakes. The Clinton campaign is still trying to use this as slander for Obama's Campaign. What if he had said I never inhaled then he would be a great candidate hey maybe he could find out his spouse has cheated on him and then ignore it like it never happened. As a woman who studies the candidates I would never vote for a liar or for someone who wants my vote so she can make history! I would rather vote Bush for a third term!

Am I selling out my race if I vote for Obama? Or is my manhood in question if I vote for Clinton?

Perhaps Oprah sees what millions of others see: that Obama is a unique candidate because of his intelligence, integrity, and willingness to build bridges with all people, including conservative Republicans.

Perhaps he is the only person who can bring the country together. Or perhaps not. But for me (and, I imagine, Oprah), my support for Obama has nothing to do with the fact that he is half white, half African, and all to do with the content of his character.

What a dopey question. Oprah never backed Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson when they ran for Pres, there goes your theory.

Or maybe she realizes that a bad woman President would set women back 20 years?

No. I think that she genuinely believes that Barack Obama represents hope and a new perspective for everyone in a way that she believes Hillary Clinton does not.

its obvious she is endorsing Obama for his race. And its rather sad because she lost her integrity doing so. Her previous stance has been not to get behind candidates. and the second there is a strong black candidate she endorses him. she sold herself out for race.

1. No
2. No idea

I find that suggestion that women and blacks are all so mindless that they will vote based solely on a superficial similarity with a specific candidate to be one of the most insulting and ignorant viewpoints I've encountered in this campaign season.

Oprah chose the person she believes to be the best candidate. Period. I don't think for a second it has anything to do with race, gender, or any other irrelevant factor.

Vote for Rudy!
