What would happen if the winner of the Popular vote in November died before the electoral college in December?

A constitutional crisis. The superelectors could vote for whoever anyway but the rest are bound by state laws and most states require them to vote for whoever got the highest popular vote within their state. I suppose that, in the end, the VP would become President and name his own VP.

It would not affect the electoral college.. Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000 but still lost the electoral vote. If the pop. vote did coincide with the electoral I suppose the vice presidential candidate would be sworn in.
