It seems strange that some nut would just happen to end-up in her office up there, when she is way out-of-town. She thinks this is a threat, now lets be real, don't you think the nut following her would have also been in Virginia ?

Congressional negotiators reached a deal late Friday on energy legislation that would force American automakers to improve the fuel efficiency of their cars and light trucks by 40 percent by 2020.

The proposal, which would require automakers to achieve 35 miles per gallon on average, is similar to a measure that was passed in the summer by the Senate but was bitterly opposed by the auto companies.

The compromise should ensure passage in the House, although the Senate may insist on changes. It does not appear to include provisions, like $16 billion in new taxes on the oil industry, that drew a veto threat from President Bush.

even if they meet the law’s mandate, the fuel efficiency of the American car fleet will still lag far behind that of other major industrialized countries.

European auto companies, for example, must average 40 mpg and China requires a 35 mpg standard.

What do you think of these new standards?

Out of the trillions of dollars that crooked politicians (mainly GOP) funnel to the defense budget, the bulk goes to corporate waste.

Why not double the pay of military service members versus CEOs?

our ports and borders during a time of war.

What kind of message does this send to us?

How about, Bush is obviously not too worried about another terrorist attack and the Middle East must not be as big of a threat as he claims.

So he needs to just leave those countries ALONE!

Hillary Clinton's self-proclaimed inevitability has taken a nasty tumble since the last two debates.

What's not normal is that the Hillary denies her vulnerability, and continues to act the part of inevitable conqueror.

Hillary tried to simultaneously stake out several opposing positions on a hot-buttom immigration issue. Competitors called her on it, and she fumed and fumbled. Within days after that debate, she ham-handedly played the gender card and the "unfair piling on a girl" card.

None of the card tricks worked, Hillary lost ten ponts of her lead over Obama, Edwards and Richardson.

Next came the next debate with planted booers hissing Obama and Edwards when they dared question Hillary. The pre-planned, girlie question for Hillary about pearls and diamonds. CNN stacking the broadcast with fawning former members of the Clinton administration.

The Clintonian twin problems of forthrightness and trustworthiness reared their spoilsport heads again.

What say you?

Of the people for the people..........things seem to have gotten bought up.........by the rich or greedy.........there are us regular people that feel as though we are being taken for a ride and we are being left without choices and/or truths. All we ever do is work eat sleep and do it all over again...like owned slaves.

Is this the Government's job? Will it help or just make it last longer? Is it really needed? Other than keeping people who can not afford thier house in there longer how does it help the responsible people.

Will the Government ever reward people that don't mess up or do the right thing?

ABC News ran a special last night about a possible problem with the use of illegal drugs (most notably cocaine, marijuana, meth) by returning troops from Iraq and Afghanistan as a way to get away from the realities of war they face in their lives after returning home. I didn't see the special but read about it on military.com. Do currently serving members of our Armed Forces see the problem escalating on bases around the US in larger numbers and easier to get the drug of choice, or is it a fairly small number and those are using this habit as an excuse for possible injuries or trauma experienced? Also, do you feel the DoD is doing enough to help the soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen/coast guardsmen including reserve components with addiction problems? Im really interested in hearing what Active and Reserve troops and Vets of the current conflicts have to say or know themselves on the issue. Respectful answers only please.

Loving my country - the freedom and easy living, but when there is so much left to improve (racism, sexism, wars, etc.) why are we called antiAmerican when we point out how far we have to go? Shouldn't we strive for improvement and if we aren't striving, aren't we stopping our country from evolving?!
