Nothing, Vietnam, Iraq, they will never learn.

Always interfering, leave them alone! They had nothing to do with 9/11.

What many people do not realize is WHY we went to Iraq. Most people think that we were just getting into other people's business. Fact-of-the matter is that the media only focuses on: this many dead in a battle, etc. They don't tell what's really going on. The positive stuff. Like, an insurgent was captured that would've killed dozens with his car bomb. Also, if we didn't do something immediately after 9/11, the terrorists would have definitely got us again. We can't show them that we're weak. We had to do something, and we did do something. Obviously, you're not going to choose this as Best Answer because you are Liberal and what I'm saying is Republican. Oh well. The truth needed to come out. =)

We haven't learned that although Saddam was insane, he held a tenuous peace(using fear-0sadly a great motivational tool)over the three sects that are the civil war we watch every day on tv. We haven't learned that we can stand between these groups forever, but, not unlike the Israelis and Palestinians, we can put troops between these groups until the end of recorded time, but we'll never make them like each other. We haven't learned that religion, whatever form it takes cannot appease man's violent nature. Lilly Tomlin once said, "In the future, we'll be no closer to the truth, but we will be able to more accurately guage our distance from it."

Come one man, there are a million of these questions all over the site. We get it. The Iraq War was a "disaster." So now that you know this and I know this...the better question is when are we going to take what we've learned and put it in to motion. The real answer is never, because the cycle will never end, it will only shift with the mentality of society.

One can only taste freedom if they fight for it, not given of it.

The Iraqis can only taste true meaning of freedom if they fight for it themselves, not because we go there and help them get it.

America is a Republic not a Democracy, so why are the people in congress wants to spread Democracy around the world? I think that it is just telling us that we don't care about what people say, we gonna do it anyway, and therefore the meaning of Democracy is something you get when some one occupied your country.

That controlling the oil and a new American Empire is costing over 3000 American soldiers, and hundreds of thousands of others their lives, displacing millions of people, costing the US taxpayers money that could have been put to better use feeding our hungry or other things, but we have idiots controlling things, and since few have stood up to this tyrannical regime, we deserve everything we are going to get.

Well the Americans have learned two things:

1.) Not to start wars they can't finish...oh wait, they already learnt that in Vietnam

2.) British soldiers are friendly and must not be shot at. There is a written reminder on their guns in case they forget (which they seem to do quite regularly)

This is a cycle that is going to end. It doesn't even shift with the waves of society.
