Let us suppose that I come upon a large red vase just inside the 1-meter wooden picket fence of the outdoor portion of a pottery store.

The store is closed, and the store building is locked and unattended at the hour in question.

The store building has a door with a mail slot.

The price of the vase is clearly marked with a label or tag.

I want to buy the vase.

I have my checkbook with me. There is more than enough money in my bank account to cover the price of the vase and any applicable taxes.

There is a friend with me who has a video camera.

I am a big person and can remove the vase without stepping inside or disturbing the fence.

I leave a check for the vase in the slot, and take the vase.

No alarm signal has been generated.

Has a crime been committed?

Does my payment for the vase create an affirmative defense to an accusation of theft?

Thanks.

If back a few years ago Bill Clinton said to the military and security agencies "make anything about my Affair with Monica Lewinski regarded as a state secret classified", Could they do it?

Why not? Didnt the affair hurt our country? Arent things that make the USA lose their credibility damaging to the country? So why wasnt it made classified top secret?

wounded to dead ratios are 8:1, so while we "only" have 3,500 or so deaths, the combat wounded amount to well over 25,000 which is more wounded than even WWII, second only to Vietnam. Why isn't our commander in chief sending a few of those hundreds of billions to care for our troops AFTER they come back maimed, deranged, or worse? if the white house and capitol hill employees have full coverage health care, why can't the troops?

Bluntly put, I want to give my boyfriend some erotic pics of myself. Unless one of the racy pics happens to be on top of the others (and the employee accidentally sees it), do I need to worry about a stranger seeing my girls? ;-)
P.S. - Digital cameras are nice, but I don't have $100 to blow.

I was brought to the USA at the age of 2. NOT MY CHOICE.
Unfortunately I am deprived of many of my rights including obtaining a California ID, and DRivers License. If it had
been my choice, I would have done it all legally. Don't Lecture me about being Illegal over the internet cuz If you were in my Face you wouldnt have the Nuts. I, AS AN undocumented Resident Have More NUTZ than most Americans do. Many Americans take what they have for granted, even simple things such as IDs. If I could Vote, I would, If I could WOrk, I would. If I could Change the Country I would. All I need is an ID.
I graduated high school and I can no longer use my high school ID. I don't want to obtain a Mexican ID Because I've noticed people discrimate you when you have the Mexican ID.
I will soon marry a white girl who will reward me with the pleasures or being of an "Official American" even though I already consider myself one. Thanks guys!

I am dead set against illegal immigration. Anyone that supports illegal immigration or that thinks Mexicans should be allowed into the country illegal wants special treatment for them alone.

What about all the people from all the other countries that have to wait to get in LEGALLY? So therefore anyone that thinks illegal immigration is ok and that they shouldnt be deported is showing favortism towards Mexicans.

Doesnt this make you mad?

7 Supreme Court Members were put in by Republicans.
2 by Democratic Presidents.

I think you've been duped. Big Time.

You have to know Giuliani, who Pat Robertson sold his soul for, will put in yet another pro-corporate-personhood, anti-middle-class, pro-choicer.

Now lets think about this for a minute. Wrongfully or right the Iraq War was a bad decision, but that doesn't mean Bush lied to the American about the war. I truly believe that the President believe in starting to democatize the middle east. Now as a republican I would not prescribed war, but President felt that was the only means that will eliminate Saddam Hussien. Now on the domestic front, President tax cuts were for everyone who pays taxes, now you could argue that he should not have cut the taxes rates for rich people, that is a good argument. But his tax cuts also accompained tax credits especially the child tax credit that increased to 1500 per child. So single mothers got a nice gift from the government. So let start the discussion regarding the Bush tax's cuts and the Iraq war?

Last week...
In 2004, President Bush appointed two Republicans who then promptly changed their affiliations to 'Independent', resulting in a Conservative dominated (6-2) Civil Rights Commission instead of equally between both major parties.

Investigations are down and not a single subpoena issued, its main power. The commission has been less involved in disputes of civil rights violations and racial discrimination, instead focused on reports critical of desegregation, affirmative action and minority-owned businesses getting a share of government contracts.

In my state.. they are trying to get an act on the ballet to vote that if two men live under one roof that they can not take legal custody of children. With the way it is written, if everyone in my family died tomorrow except for my nieces.. I could not adopt them because I live with my brother and a friend of ours. How's that for morality?

I have a friend who has a friend who is in the service over in Iraq. We want to send him a "Care Package" for Christmas but we're not sure what to put in it. We haven't gotten the serviceman's address (he just shipped out last week) yet but we want to send the package as soon as we can to make sure he gets it in time (once that he sends us his address). How far in advance will it be necessary for us to mail the package for him to get it by Christmas?

I took out a loan with company X in joint names with an ex partner. I repaid for a while no problems.
A while later, due to mounting other debts, I went to a debt replayment plan which was all in my name. They agreed a repayment structure with all the debtors including company X.
I repaid this for a while with no problems.

A while later my circumstances chnaged. New partner, marriage and children. For three months during a transition change I made vastly reduced payments for three months.

Company X filed a CCJ against me. I responded with a defence claiming only half due to it being joint names.

Now, as is normal, the case will be heard in court. I do realise though due to company X response to the court that I am equally liable for the whole amount not just half. Fair enough.
Since I received the CCJ I managed to get back on track with reduced payments and have been paying fine for 4 months.

But what will happen at court? I am worried. Will they ask awkward questions? Advice !!!!!
