What is the conviction for? Any thing alcohol and driving related make it really hard to get into Canada.

It shouldn't cause you problems. However, I know people who have been turned away at the border due to a ten year old misdeamenor. It's better to contact Immigration Services in Canada and make sure you can visit prior to starting the immigration process. This way you'll know if there will be any hiccups.

It shouldn't be a problem. Expunged means it's off your record. If it does interfere, then law agencies are talking to each other about things "under the table," which could be grounds for a lawsuit.
