No, the real secret to making abortion illegal is getting the population to accept it. The government doesn't typically enact legislation that a good portion of the population is against (national security and other concerns can trump this one, but in the case of abortion, it is a personal concern, not a national security one). They'll consider doing it if 51% or more of the population is behind it. You can't just make it illegal, making things illegal never just stops them outright. If you made it illegal overnight, it would still be done in back alleys, and then we'd have to start charging the 'doctors' with crimes and dealing with the aftermaths of abortions that went wrong. This is why the population needs to be ready to accept a change in the laws concerning abortion to ensure it is as smooth a transition as possible.

Abortion is one of my biggest issues for 2008, along with gay marriage, and a President who will install strong Christian morals and values into our society.
