Keep the Repubs out of this. I'm serious.....does the democratic party not have a better option?

2007-10-31 09:01:58 · 7 answers · asked by Robert S 2 in Other - Politics & Government

I watched the democratic debate the other night (I was feeling masochistic), and noticed that HIllary was BARELY able to reign in her temper at several points. At one point she was openly scowling at John Edwards as he gave his answer. This got me thinking, so I googled stories about her temper while first lady and senator, and wow, the women goes off like an atomic bomb. If you support her, can you tell me why her documented tantrums don't worry you? Hillary could barely keep the lid on when being questioned by someone in her own party! Imagine when it's the head of state of a nuclear power! Throw in the fact that she goes over the top when her strength or authority is questioned, and you have the emotional recipe for disaster. Overcompensation isn't just for men and pickup trucks. Anybody besides me see a problem?

Oh, and I'm not a republican, and am not asking about temper tantrums by republican candidates or current officials. Let's stay on target. Please.

I moved into a house with my boyfriend and 2 roommates in May. We live in a 2 family house and there are a group of young guys living in the other apartment. We have to tell them to lower their music at least 5 times a week.At first they would lower it when we knocked on their door. Then the next day it would be up again.

It is getting worse and worse. Now they refuse to answer their doors and will sometimes lower it if we bang on the walls. A lot of the time they will bang back and just put it on louder.

We have contacted the landlord numerous times and he claims to have talked to them, but there has been no change.

We have threatened to call the cops on them. We are pretty sure they are here illegally. The music is never in english and only one of the group speaks english. We are afraid that if we call the cops they will retaliate or somehow try to get us back and we are afraid. What can we do? What can the police do? There is nothing in our lease about loud music.

as a conservative, I'm deeply disturbed by our liberal leader. After all, there's nothing conservative about Bush's immigration policy. There's nothing conservative about the way he's spent our country into record debt. There's nothing conservative about extending the role of the federal government when you can't get activist judges to rule the way you want (as he did in the case of Teri Schiavo). There's nothing conservative about being a draft-dodging, lying, murdering, war-mongering, nation building, coke-snorting, Texas town drunk. These simply arent conservative principles. So as a true conservative - can our nation endure this LIBERAL any longer??

At the end of august I went to the movies with my brother, my cousin, her boyfriend & her best friend in my car. The movie ended a couple mintues before 12 & i was still 17 so i wasn't aloud to drive past 12:30 am. I had to pull over because of car trouble. Then a cop came over & asked if everything was okay when we fixed the door I got in my car it was 12:31. I turned my car & lights on & he came over to my door & asked for my license. Then he told me I was 1 mintue past when I could drive & that we needed to find a ride home. The cop then got a call & said that he had to go, but for me to be careful so I thought he was letting me go. 5 mintues later he pulled me over again & said Didn't I just tell you to get a ride home?, I was like You told me to becareful, I thought you were letting me go. I then got sentenced to court & I have to go tomorrow. I am now 18 so now I can drive past 12:30 but, has this happend to anybody else? I just wanna know whats gonna happen!!!

I have had a phone call from the wife of an ex-colleague, who is desperate and suicidal due to a catch 22 situation.
Her husband has had several strokes and is paralysed. He also suffers from progressive dementia. She has a condition akin to Parkinson's making her very shaky and unsteady on her feet, but has to nurse him in a second floor flat in which both are effectively prisonners. He kept sole control of his money and never shared an account with her. She is now paying for most things from the meagre earnings she made as an interpreter and is now running out of funds. Social services come twice a day to get him out/ into bed, but she has to manage everything else alone, from spoon-feeding him to cleaning continually due to his incontinence, and she can no longer lift him. He has a son from a previous marriage who lives in the USA but assumes no responsibility because he disapproved of the marriage. Otherwise they have no family, and their friends have melted away.

A Racist: A racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. The term applies to all white people (i.e. people of European descent) living in the United States regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality. By this definition, people of color cannot be racists, because as peoples within the U.S. system they do not have the power to back up their prejudices, hostilities or acts of discrimination."

According to the University of Delaware it is.

I don't get it, since about 4 month, gas prices do not fluctuate with the price of oil anymore. What happen? It used to be, that the oil companies used any rise in oil prices immidiatly as an excsue to raise gas prices. Is that a political scheme to support Bush?

Americans elect Governors; Nixon, Reagan, Carter, bush, far more than Senators; Dole, Kerry , Gore, Biden, ect.

Is it because Governors have a more populist appeal?

Do they speak in platitudes more than specifics?

Are we all superficial media sponges?

Why? Why? Why, I say?

I have been serving in the armed forces for 7 years and have always been proud of what I do, regardless of the reasons I have to do it!
I spent several months in Canada and during that time I was thanked for doing what I do, given discounts without even asking, bought drinks and was told that people had been proud to meet me. Also every shop and most cars had a "support our troops" sticker on display.
Now, Britain.....I have been refused entry into clubs, can get a discount in an outdoor store, been treatened by people I don't even know (through people saying I look like a squaddie) and I have seen no sign of any flags or mention of the soldiers serving in Iraq! Remeber, we don't want to be there, we HAVE to be there!
So what's the deal here!
