NEWARK, Del., October 30, 2007—The University of Delaware subjects students in its residence halls to a shocking program of ideological reeducation that is referred to in the university’s own materials as a “treatment” for students’ incorrect attitudes and beliefs. The Orwellian program requires the approximately 7,000 students in Delaware’s residence halls to adopt highly specific university-approved views on issues ranging from politics to race, sexuality, sociology, moral philosophy, and environmentalism. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) is calling for the total dismantling of the program, which is a flagrant violation of students’ rights to freedom of conscience and freedom from compelled speech.

I live in Michigan and I am thinking about taking a company to small claims court that is based in Las Vegas. I am just wondering if I will have to go to Vegas to do this, or if they will have to come here? Also, does anyone know how much this will cost me, and if the person who loses has to pay court costs?

I am a Sheriff's officer, so part of the job. Off duty I do as well. I have a big priority on my own time to assist Blacks who have broken down, run out of gas or the like. Why? In those rare cases where it was me needing help, it was always a Black that stopped to help me. Sometimes with their family along. Worst problem I ever ran into was a woman complaining I was scratching her bumper with the jack while changing her tire. Not for everyone perhaps, but I have no fears. 45 years of this and nothing bad yet.

I also pick up hitchhikers. Can't stand seeing them in the rain. I have frequently got them a meal in a sit down restaurant and even bought them a bus ticket to Eugene, Portland, Reno or Las Vegas. Also, never a bad incident. I am an athiest. If something bad is going to happen it can as easily happen safely at home.

If someone who is 6'2 weighs 175 then chances are that they are probably going to look kind of tall and thin, and if they are muscular they probably will not have much muscle or else they would weigh more than that. Although 175 lbs is within the reccomended weight for a male who is 6'2, the reality is that the most "robust, strong-looking" individuals of that height usually weigh much more than 175. In addition, there are plenty of people who are taller than 6'2, so it is not like it is unusual for someone to be that height. So how it it that George Washington was considered uniquely "robust and tall" when he was no taller than anyone else, and in fact weighed a great deal less than a lot of people?

One of the reasons liberal viewpoints are disregarded and ridiculed is the extent to which they're assumed to be inextricably connected to the Democratic Party. Likewise, conservative viewpoints are often invalidated based on the assumption that conservative=Republican.

Truthfully, I think Democrats pretend to be liberal, and Republicans pretend to be conservative, for voting purposes, making empty appeals at "truth" or "public good" or "individual liberty," which they universally claim to value.

Please speak up if you tend to have either a liberal viewpoint or a conservative one, and yet tend to dissociate yourself from any political party. As a self-proclaimed independent liberal thinker, I believe I have more in common with real conservatives than Democrats or Republicans. I'm interested to see if there are others around here like myself.

Thanks.

My husband has the $400,000 policy through the Army, does that only apply to his if he's on duty, or is it 24/7 for as long as he's enlisted? I need to know if we need another life insurance policy on him if, for example, he died while on leave or on his way to work, etc.

I know, I know, this is not something that has anything to do with political ideology, or part. And it is unfair to pick on republicans in any way based on the actions of one person. But it is too funny that this keeps happening to Republicans.
