true in the army we will enlist you if you have a GED, pass the asvab, pass the physical, and also pass the aims test (given only to ged holders).
the marines (dept of the navy) and navy, will not take you unless you complete at least 15 SH (semester hours) of post secondary education which you will have to pay the entire cost of.

As a Marine I recommend you get your high school diploma. You may decide you don't want to make a career out of it. If you decide that, employment once you get out will be much easier to find. In the long run you will be much happier that you received your diploma. If you want to be a Marine start acting like one now and don't let anything stop you from reaching your goals. Make your first goal graduating high school. You can get into the Corps with a GED but trust me, you want a diploma!
EDIT....
Get used to sitting in a classroom. During boot camp and your mos school you will spend hours in a classroom. Even once you are out in the fleet you will continue to have some classes that will educate you in different areas.
I do appreciate you willing to serve our country. Thank you!

I don't know about the Marines. When my friend joined the Army back in 1991 she had a GED but she also needed a certain number of college hours.

Don't listen to these people. They don't have a clue what they are talking about. Marine Corps will not accept you if you don't have a highschool diploma. Once in a blue moon, they will give you a waiver for it but that is very rare. Get your highschool diploma. My best friend was gonna join the Marine Corps with me but they didn't take him because he didnt have a highschool diploma. So he had to join the Army.

You aren't cut out to be a Marine if you "don't know what you'd do with your life" if you didn't become a Marine. Why don't you join job corps? You could get an actual DIPLOMA plus some training in case your Marine thing doesn't work out..

no matter how you sugarcoat it GED = Quitter
the marines do not take quitters! Finish School then join the marines. Once at boot camp you will find yourself in a classroom once again. you cant quit in that classroom so dont quit now.

The Army would be easier to get into but who wants easy??? They are pansies.
The Marines in general do not accept GEDs but.....If they are hurting for contracts (yes they do have a certain amount of people they MUST recruit each month) the Commanding Officer can make judgement calls and allow you in.
HOWEVER dropping out is not a trait they look for in the Marines. That shows a history of being a QUITTER. Don't quit.....Get your diploma.

all services only take a certain amount of ged's regardless of how well you do, i'm sorry but that's the truth of the matter. however, how you can get around that is if you have 30 semester hours of college (or its' equiv.) then it's a different ball game. you should try to stick it out and finish high school. i know you don't want to. but that's the challenge of it. you can do it.

I am pretty darn sure that the military accepts GEDs. And damn, if you do good on the ASVAB, they'll take you. As long as you are in the right shape, etc. But from what I understand, you have to be more physiaclly fit than anything to join the Corps. Good luck!

the Marines will not take you with a GED. blowing off school because it is too hard means, to the Marines, that you don't have what it takes to commit to something and see it through.
your chances would be FAR higher if you graduated High School, regardless of your grades.
