Personally, I believe atheism is a religion, just like being a pagan. I think ANY extremist is a danger to America. Not all atheists get freaked out if a group of kids pray on the school grounds; just like many Christians feel it is wrong to cram their religion down the throat of others. It is the extremists who want to legislate their values onto others.
UPDATE
To the few who said atheists have no agenda. While I believe a majority of atheists have no agenda, the extremists want to tell my PRIVATE school that praying on the grounds is not right since it discriminates against them and their beliefs. Trust me, there are plenty of extreme atheists who believe faith based organizations such as the Salvatation Army should not be allowed non-profit status.

Religious extremists period. A bit surprised by the answers. Like " the terrorists" conservatives try to scare progressives into submission with are religious fanatics too. Strange they don't seem to think about that.
Atheists are threatening no one, never have never will. They are discriminated and looked down on. It's sort off the last taboo while objective data shows most of them are decent law abiding citizens
Religion and politics is a very dangerous mix

As long as the atheist isn't trying to keep me from praying in public or telling people what I believe (and most atheists I know really don't care), Then I'm going to have to go with the religious extremist.
Please note that I define an extremist as someone who tries to force their beliefs on someone else. This does not count people who just say what they believe. If I say, "I believe homosexuality is a sin and homosexuals will burn in hell." This is not an extremist statement. This is merely stating my beliefs. If you don't share those beliefs, it's not my problem, and I'm not going to force you to share my beliefs.
Similarly, if a man stands on a corner and preaches from the Koran, this is not an extremist act. He is trying to convince you, not trying to force you.
On, the other hand, if an atheist attempts to get laws passed banning public prayer, they have now taken an extremist action and tried to force their beliefs on me by making my religious practices illegal.

Religious extremists are a bigger threat. Both within and without.
They are the cause for most wars of aggression after all.
And the guy who said atheists are religious extremists better check the definition of atheist...

Extremists, of course.
The only "offensive" thing atheists do is occasionally scoff at believers.
But extremists operate under the highly irrational [to say nothing of obnoxious] impetus that they are not only right, but actually justified in acting against others -- that "their" God approves of and will vindicate their actions.

Religious extremest. There is no atheist agenda to restrict the freedom of anyone. Religious extremest want to ban all kinds of things that the government should not be involved in.

Neither. The real threat to America is the media, and it's lackluster record of reporting the truth.
