I'm all for making belonging to a political party ILLEGAL. But barring that how about we remove any party affiliation from signs about candidates. And IF that is too hard we remove party designation information from the ballot. That should really shake up the election.

Of course Democrats (especially the liberals ones) would probably say that is some sort of discriminatation.

There is already a mainstream party. It's called "Independent". I think everyone should run as an Independent. This way, we determine what's best for the country issue by issue, not what a political party tells us what to think.

Maybe the question isn't what the chances are, because, it will probably happen. There are enough people now who realize political parties aren't beneficial, and help to add to problems of corruption (campaign finance) and partisanship. We really should be focusing on pragmatic solutions. This will probably only happen when we have more scientists as politicians, and less attorneys.

I will be starting a new political party before the next election. I have not yet determined a name for the party, but I hope to one day crush the two party system.

There is no way we can get rid of both parties unless there is a mainstream canidate to represent a third. No one will want to not vote for anyone but a D or an R because they are afraid that they will ruin the best chance for either party to win by voting for a third that is not mainstreamed.

Given that we have always had a two party system;
I place the odds of it happening at 0%.

Unlikely because most Americans are just going to choose one of the two. Its been that way for too many years.
