So i watched her if shes going to the office. she didnt! i think she went straight to her car! Does teachers have the right to keep other people's belongings? She didnt give me discipline. I think they should give me dentitions. but still do they have the RIGHT to keep my ipod? What if she doesnt give it back? Could we sue her? Is she allowed to keep it? PLEASE help me

She has the right to take your Ipod, since you violated school rules by using it in class. If you don't understand what the rules are, go tell your story to the principal.

Taking your Ipod is discipline, just not the kind you thought you would get. Yes, she could give you DETENTION, but she chose not to.

Can you sue her? Please.

Spend your energy studying and improving your crappy attitude. Your teacher will be more likely to return your Ipod to you then.

You have bigger problems that your ipod. What you did was completely disrespectful. You should try to understand it.
I'm sure that her class is boring. However, you have to find a way to deal with it because that's life sometimes. But you are there to learn. You should really be taking advantage of this opportunity while it's affordable for you. It may not always be that way. If you want it back then you should speak with your teacher alone and apologize. Acknowledge that you were behaving disrespectfully and rudely. You won't do it again.
Try to pay attention. Ask questions. Take notes. Don't worry about what your classmates are doing. Get a goal. Get a dream. What do you want to do with your life? The best jobs are the most competitive. So beware.

She can't keep it without your permissin, technically, as otherwise it would be taking without permission, aka stealing.

If she doesn't give it back, complaign to her and your head of year/head teacher or someone.

By giving it to her, she could take it, but if you demand it back, i don't see how, legally, they can keep it....

But seirously, next time i would just not be listening to music in lessons, it would save all this trouble, and seriously, as boring as lessons are, they are actually useful when you get to exams etc, so......

She can take it in class. She should have turned it over to the principle and let you discuss with him about getting it back. At that point, he and your parents can discuss school rules and such and he should then return it to your parents.

Taking it and keeping it is theft.
First, talk to the principle. If no resolution, then tell your parents what happened.

Why sue? File a police report and have her arrested for theft of property.

BUT BEFORE GOING THAT ROUTE - give the school a chance to rectify the situation.

When I was in high school, things like that (cell phones, cd players, whatever) were confiscated and taken to the principal and given back when you graduate/leave the school.

If what you're saying is true, it sounds like theft. Any witnesses?

Based on wording and spelling in your email, maybe you should consider listening in class but no, she does not have the right to keep your ipod. I would go and talk to her.
I would apologize for not paying attention and ask her to please return the ipod.

I don't think they can keep anything they take away from students. Maybe she's taking to the principal and have the principal deal with your parents. Then you'll get it back...

she can't keep it forever
she should have to give it back at the end of the day i reckon

ask her for it next time you see her
and if she says no tell you parents and get them to phone up/ give you a note, saying that its yours, youve learnt your lesson and you want it back

hope this helped:)
