I keep hearing on this forum so many people accusing the poor and struggling even those who DO work of just not trying hard enough?

Isn't that just empty propaganda of the fortunate who didn't really have to overcome many of the trials of life that some endure?

Besides doesn't everyone have a different 'gauge' of success and having a life of value?

For 35 years now we have allowed him to eat as much rabbit, pheasant, duck and pidgeon from the estate as he likes - road kill of course. We have allowed him to live rent free in an old hut in the woods and the use of a bicycle, free of charge. Now he seems to have been mixing with some lefty types and is demanding a wage! Do you think this is reasonable?

How can Councillor John Taylor of the Dukinfield ward have this crusade against the BNP saying that they are all thugs, when he himself is meeting a thug that kept a family in fear of violence for 4 years.

at our school dance, me and my friend thought we should have a bit to drink before going to the dance. We literally had not even a shot of vodka and we called it quits and decided it be more fun going sober even though 50% of the ppl that were at the dance we so intoxicated they couldnt even stand. As we were about to walk into the gym, we were pulled aside by 2 police officers, they started questioning and THREATENING us infront of all our peers, about if we had consumed any alcohol.. as they could 'smell' over an ounce on us, (we suspect someone ratted on us) when i can assure you that wasnt true. since then we have been suspended.
keep in mind we go to a school where only 30% of the student make it to university, and me and my friend have excellence marks, good honest students and have a very rep among teachers. yes we made a mistake, but what 16yr old hasnt. so what makes a differnce for a student to come under the influence of nicotine? (which was smoked on school property)

On what Iraqi's want in their country? Should people with absolutely NO EXPERIANCE, who have never spoken to an Iraqi, be able to talk about whether Iraqi's like or dislike Americans, Want Democracy or Want Saddam back?

I feel like this is equal to me walking into an operating room and telling the surgeon whether his patient wants him to cut here or snip there, do this or do that.

I have no experience in surgery and I have never spoken to that patient so how could I possibly be qualified to comment on the situation?

Again, this is not a freedom of speech issue, I understand everyone has he right to free speech and I am not trying to obstruct that. I am simply asking if people who are unqualified and have no real world experiences in a matter should have value placed on their opinion.

What do you think?

I've received one jury duty summons before, and I responded accordingly. They had me call a couple of numbers, and I didn't have to provide any personal information, just a couple of recordings telling me and my group to stay home.

I've always wondered how the courts can be sure that you actually receive a jury duty summons through the mail. What if the summons gets lost or misdelivered? How can they punish someone if they never received a summons in the first place?

And furthermore, if failing to respond to a summons gets you in trouble, how can the courts argue against a defense such as this (I never received any sort of summons through the mail!). Any input appreciated.

Lots of people complain that they are being railroaded by the system. However view people participate in townhall meetings. If they do so, it is only because it directly affects them. How many people write to their elected officials or attend public meetings? There are people who do, but to have a voice there needs to be more.

Did you know that we could never fight a war without the chemicals now being made in China, a communist country that would never support us in time of conflict? The reason for closing the chemical plants is China has almost no pollution laws. Now they have 7 of the 10 most air polluted cities on earth? The chemical plants have destroyed the biggest lake around Shanghai (see the article below) This situation has put many of our chemists out of work, and weakened the US' ability to defend itself, and yet our government seems to be encouraging it? Would you all please remember the plight of the chemists in this country, and the millions of people suffering in China, when you vote in the next election?

Starting Monday i have to report for jury duty and my work is aware of this. I get paid 20 dollars a day from the court system. My question is, in Ohio is there any law that the business you work for must pay you your hourly rate minus the 20 dollars the court gives you? My company i work for has more than 25 employees. Thanks!
