Years back (at least 15 years ago) there was a poorly done study that showed sporty cars, your firebirds, cameros and mustangs, were pulled over the most. The study authors believed it was because of the psychological profile of purchasers of those types of vehicles (risk takers). I have no idea were I read it or were it could be found.

I heard in the academy, 30 years ago, that black and red cars got the most attention. I never noted that in practice as a supervisor rolling on a lot of traffic stops for backup.

Illinois, and other states that jumped on the racial profiling bandwagon, passed a law that has officers filling out a form for every car they stop. Among the questions on the form was year, make and model of the vehicle. The data would be interesting but is not available because the data base system used does not contain legitimate current model names so the default of "any" has to be used by the data entry operators. You can find, for example, that officers stopped 1 million Lexi but not if they were sport model, sedan or SUV.

The ones that break the law.

I heard somewhere that red cars are the safest, but tend to attract more tickets. I don't know if that is true or not.
